STORE-FRONT CONSTRUCTION.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, Emm'rr S. HnoAus, a citizen ol' the United States, residing at Karr sas City,
o of Missouri, lieve invented certain new and usclul lnuirovements in Store-Front Construction, ol' which the cation.
"lhis invention relates to store l ront constructions and more especially to division or mullion bars therefor, and niy object is to produce a division or niullion bar which can be easilyr and quickly secured in.l operative position and which possesses great strength 5 and rigidity combined with simplicity and cheapncss ol' construction, and which furthermore is ol' ornamental and attractive appearance.
To this end the invention Consists in cer tain novel and peculiar features of construe tion and organization as hereinafter described and claimed; and in order that it may be fully understood reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, in which-- Figure 1, is a sectional erspeetive View ol a part ol a store front enlliodjyimgr my invention. Fig. 2, is a vertical central section ol the same. Fig, 3, is a perspective View of a part of the i'acefplate. Fig. 4, is a perspective View of a part oi' theouter clamp plate.
- ln the said` drawing, 1 indicates a pair ol 'windowflights between which vpro'ccts inwardly the hollow rib or bod.;r of tlie outer clainf Jing bar 2, said'clamp bar consisting of said liiollovrl ri b|or bollir and laterally rejectin wings Sand being' "irovided wit 1 a plura 'ty of holes in. the vridge portion of the said body errib.
5 indicates bolts projecting inwardly through' the `holes 4 with their heads fitting n oibrotstably in the hollow or channel ol the it'ody or rib.
.jndicates a lace plate terminating at lits Iside, margins in hooks?, said face-plate being arranged with `its books ein bracing tl ie wings of the clamping bar and its body portion. cov- Bring the outerside ol' saidclamping bar and Bridging the hollow or channel therein so as tb com letely hide said bar from View.
A. ho lowstillening bar S of suitable and by preference ornamental cross sectional form,is rovided with shoulders 9`to bear against t e inner faces of the window-lights and clamp the same firrnlfy against the hooks orced by the outer clampingban as said face-plate is preferably Specification of Letters Patent.

f ol' thin sheet metal and therefore iucupable j of alone holdingr flic \.'iudo.rli;;|\is rcliubly ,against outward movcuwul, :uid io guard against lateral movement of the slil'euiug; bar iis shoulders il are equipped with out- Iwurdly projectingl Hongos I() cugagiluf the adjacent vertical edges of the wiudou'dighis and interposed between the leiter nud the sides of the hollow body or rib of the outer clamping bar as shown clearly in Fig. 1. if desired the stilleiiiug bar may be made iu two similar sections, as shown, and if so said sections will preferably terminate their inner edges in parallel lian es 11 bearing against eachother. The sai flanges are provided because the stiflening bar is preferably made of thin metal and there would be a chance of their inner edges slipping past each other, when pressure was brought, as hereinbefore explained, to clam them reliably together. The sides of the stifi'ening bar are rovidcd of clamping nuts 13 at the rear ends of bolts 5 preliminary to securing said nuts upon the bolts, the first )art of the operation being effected by band, by preference, and the latter part by means of a suitable wrench, not shown, the sides of the stifiening bar being provided with Vertical slots 14 which open luto the openings l12 and are of suilicient length to enable the wrench, or equivalent tool to swing in a vertical plane and thus screw the nuts houle upon the bolts until said nuts bear a ainst the outer edges Vof the slots to el'lect t `e clalupin of the window livhts lirn'll Y between shoul ers 9 and the resti ening bar is in two sections, as shown and hereinbefore referred to, the will preferably be clamped rigidi toget 1er by a suitable number of cross )olts 15 engaged by clamping nuts 16.
Frein the above description it will be ppareut that I have produced a store front construction possessing the features of advantage enumerated as desirable and I wish it to be understood that l do not desire to be restricted to the exact details of construction shown and described as obvious modiiicaitions in the form, proportion, detail construction and arrangement of the parts will su est themselves to one skilledinthe art.
laving thus described the invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is
1. A store front construction comprising a.
With openings 12 to permit of the insertion in lorce beers of the face plate. Where the loo sind wiiulow-lights contiguous to seid edges, holts exi ending through the bridge portion of sind liod)V or rib with their heads fitting in i hollow or channel of seid ehimping bei', e
stii'iiiing her consisting of two sheet metiil l i l l l i sections provided with engaging flanges itt their inner edges und with shoulders et their l iront edges hearing iigziinst the inner faces of* the windowlights iind with flanges pro]eet ing outwiii-iily troni the inner edges of seid sind hollow body or rib, the sides ol sind binlieing )rovided with openings, clamping nuts .shoulders und interposed between the window-lights uid sind hollow hody or ril), the sides of sind hin' heing provided with openings, chiinpiog nuts to he 'fitted in seid openi ings, rnd screwed upon snidV-.holts to siinultnneously chiinp the sections of the stiil'eiling hin' out win-diyegitinst the windowlights, und nioiins lor chunping said sections together.
7. A store front construction, comprising n pziir of Awiinlow-lights dis osed with vertical edges :idjiicent endpiimlliel, :in outer chimping plete comprising :i hollow body or ril) projectin r inwardly between the iidj eeent edges of sei window lights :ind laterally projecting win s overlapping the outer farces of sind win oW-lights contiguous to seid edges, bolts 4 extending through the bridge portion of seid body or rib with their heads fitting in the hollow or channel thereof, e ffice-plete attached to end eoverin said clamping bar sind the heads of the hots and bridging the hollow or channel of said clamping hor, a, stillening hair consisting of two sheet metal sections provided with engagin flanges et their. inner edges end with shou ders et their front edges hearing against the inner feces of the windowlights :ind with iiiinges projecting outwardly from the inner edges ol" seid shoulders und iiiterposed between the window-lights ond the to he itted in seid openings and screwed upon siiid holts to simultaneously cloni 'i the sections ol the still'ening hor outwardly iigiiinst the window lights, bolts extending through the sides ol sind sections, und n clamping nut engaging seid bolt to chnnp sind sections together.
n testimony whereof l iitlix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
