TRUCK.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Iatented Aug. 24:, 1909.
Application filed April 30, 1906. Serial No. 314,338.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, MINNIE IWI. DICKIN- soN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Evanston, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trucks, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to improvements in trucks and has for its object the provision of a light, strong and convenient truck for tubs used for the washing of. clothes and other purposes and is useful not only for the purpose of conveying the heavy filled tubs from place to place but also provides a convenient stand for the tubs while in use.
To the accomplishment of the above objects my invention consists of a new and novel struct-ure and combination of parts as will presently appear.
In the drawings :#Figure 1 is a perspective view of my new truck supported by three standards or legs. Fig. 2 is a'perspective view of my new truck supported by four standards or legs. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the truck shown in Fig. 2 supporting a tub.
The numeral l designates the legs or standards which are attached to the sides 2 of the top with the bolts or rivets 3. At about the middle of the standards or legs I I provide the bracing hoop or band 4 which secures great rigidity of structure and upon the lower extremity of l I provide the casters or rollers 5.
The top of my truck which is the special the legs or standards' feature desired to be secured consists of a ring of suitable diameter of practically L shaped cross-section wherein the standing portion or side 2 of said ring or top surrounds the bottom port-ion of the sides 6 of the tub to prevent it from slipping and the lying or horizontal portion 7 of said ring or top receives and supports the bottom ofl the tub. This structure of top has numerous advantages among which are a minimum of weight coupled with a miXimum of strength and rigidity while at the same time the sides 2 clasp the tub against displacement while in use or from rough handling or accident.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings, it is evident that I provide a truck suitable for tubs eX- tremely simple in construction and effective in operation.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a portable truck, the combination of a base comprising a plurality of legshaving casters therein, a brace surrounding said legs and rigidly secured thereto, a tub seat arranged on top of said base, said tub seat being circular and angular in cross section to support the bottom and sides of a tub placed thereon, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MINNIE M. DICKINSON.
