To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LOUIS F. Hume, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of, Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented cer tain new and useful Improvements in Poultry-Hangers, of which the following is a specification. j

My invention relates to an improved poultry hanger, the object of the invention being to provlde a simple, inexpensive han er, which is especially adapted to clamp the egs or feet of a fowl and support the same from a hook or other device, such as ordinarily used in stores and markets.

A further object is to provide an im roved hanger of this character composed o a single piece of spring wire, which will be strong and durable in use, and efiectually support a fowl in position for attractive'display.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and' combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.

My improved hanger is preferably composed of a single pieoeof spring wire, which is bent forming an eye 1, at one end, and two spring clamping jaws 2, 2, at its other end. These clamping jaws 2, 2,, are formed between a central upwardly projecting tongue 3, and upwardly and outwardly bowed or curved portions 4 of the wire. The ends of the .wires may be brought to ether at any point, but are preferably brougit together at an intermediate point between the bowed out portions 4 and t e eye 1, so as to give to the device the greatest ossible strength.

In use, the legs 0 the fowl are inserted on opposite sides of the central tongue 3, and pressed downwardly into the clamping 'aws 2, which latter will effectually hold the owl, and when the hanger is sup orted by its eye 1,. the fowl can be attractive y-displayed and can be readily removed when desired.

In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the structure is similar to Fig. 1, except that the upper portion of the hanger is bent forming a hook 5, and the wires are twisted together from this hook 5 down to the beginmng of the bowed out portions 4.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A hanger designed for clamping both legs ofafowl, comprising'a single piece of spring wir,"having its ends in alinement, forming in effect a continuous wire bent at one end as shown, forming a hanger, at its other end bent forming two spring clamps, adapted to clamp the legs of a fowl, and between the ends bowed outward and apart forming an entrance for the legs of a fowl, to guide the legs into the clamps, said clamps separated by an upwardly projecting tongue formed by the wire, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
