JOHN 1'1. JEFFERSON, OF GSMOND. NEBRASKA.
DISPLAY-STAND.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Join: H. JEFFERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Osmond, in the county of Pierce and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful lniprovcments in Display Stands; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art lo which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvemei'its in display stands or show cases.
The object. of the invention is to provide a display stand or case having means whereby the container supported therein may be tilted to facilitate the removal of the goods therefrom.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a display stand constructed in. accordance with the invention, showing the container closed and. in an upright position; Fig.2 is a similar view of the stand with the container removed; Fig. 3 is a side view, showing the container tilted to facilitate the removal of the goods there from; Fig. 4:. is a front view of a modified form of the invention, showing the manner in which a plurality of stands may be con nected together; Fig. 5 is a similar View of another modified form of the invention, showing the manner in which the stands may be arranged one above the other.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes the stand or frame which consists of upright standards 2 connected at their upper ends by an upper cross bar 3 and provided on their lower ends with feet 1 which. are adapted to be secured to the floor or other support whereby the stand is firmly held in operative position. U11 one of the standards is formed a segmental rack which is here shown and is preferably in the form of an arc-shaped plate 5 having a series of apertures 6, the purpose of which will hereinafter appear.
Between the standards 2 of the stand or frame, is arranged a container holder 7 com prising upper and lower rings or hands 8 which are connected together at diametric- Specificaticn of Letters Patent.

ally opposite points by side bars 9, the lower ends of which are bent inwardly at right angles below the lower ring and form a support 10 for the container. The upper end of one of the side bars 9 continued upwardly and forwardly at a suitable angle and forms a handle or lever 11 by means of which the holder 7 may be tilted. The lever 11 is provided with a laterally projecting stud 12 and said lever has sutficient spring or resiliency to permit the same to be sprung outwardly and inwardly to engage or disengage the stud 12 with and from the apertures 6 in the rack plate 5. The holder 7 is pivotally mounted between the standards 2 by means of laterally projecting bearing studs 13 which are engaged with hearing apertures 14-. formed in the standards, as shown.
Adapted to be engaged with the holder 7 is a suitable container which is here shown and is preferably in the form of a glass jar 15 having a wide mouth to facilitate the insertion of a scoop for the removal of the goods therefrom. The container is also provided with a neck with which is adapted to be engaged a cap or cover 16 to close the mouth of the jar and said cap is adapted to fit against a packing ring or gasket 17 whereby an airtight verinin proof closure is formed for the container. The cap 16 is provided with a bail or handle 18 whereby the same may be readily removed from or replaced on the neck of the container and when the latter is in an upright position, the bail18. is adapted to engage the underside of the upper cross bar 3 of the frame thereby holding the cover down in closed position on the container.
In Fig. 1, the device is shown in multiple form and illustrates the manner in which a plurality of the stands may be connected together in a horizontal plane. In Fig. 5 of the drawings, is shown another arrangement of the stand wherein the frames are arranged one above the other in a vertical plane to provide a plurality of stands. When arranged in this manner, the standards 2 are extended or continued upwardly to the de sired extent, as shown. l' hen the stands are to be used without fastening the same to the floor or other support, it preferably provide a lower cross bar 19 whereby the lower p01 tions of the stand are held together in operative position.
A stand of this character is particularly adapted for holding and displaying dried fruit or similar goods which need protection and by providing the tilting arrangeinent for the container, the latter may be readily swung down in position to permit theremoval of the goods therefrom.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection With the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention Will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
.Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages-of the invention, as defined in the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim is:
In a display stand, a supporting frame, a segmental rack on said frame, a container and thereby secure the holder in an upright or tilted position, a container adapted to be engaged with said holder, said container havinga large mouth, a cap to close said mouth, and means to provide an air-tight closure between said cap and container.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence'of two subscribing \vitnesses.
JOHN H. JEFFERSON. \Vitnesses:
