MILDRED PAULINA RENDLEMAN, OF HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS.
STOVEPIPE-I-IANGER.
T all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, MILDRED P. RENDLE- MAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Harrisburg, in the county of Saline and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Stovepipe-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hangers or brackets designed chiefly for adapted to be applied more particularly to the stove pipe of a cooking range or other form of heating or cooking stove for the purpose of conveniently supporting various articles used in .or about the stove, such as a poker, a lifter, a shaker, and a shovel, the aim of the invention being to provide a simple form of hanger which may be readily applied without the aid of special tools.
To the above end the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as herein fully described and illustrated.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved device shown applied to a stove pipe. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the hanger, and Fig. 3 is a front elevation thereof.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description, and indicated in all the views of the drawing, by the same reference characters.
Referring to the drawing, stove pipe having mounted thereon.
The hanger contemplated in this'invention comprises essentially a substantially cylindrical collar or band 2 of suit-able size to encircle and clamp around the stove pipe 1, as shown in Fig. 1. This collar or band comprises two semi-cylindrical members which are connected at the back by a hinge joint 3 embodying a vertical pintle or hinge pin 4, while at the opposite side the two portions of the collar or band are extended radially to form clamping lugs 5 through which passes a clamping bolt 6.
Between the lugs 5 there is fastened by means of the same clamping bolt 6 a hori- Zontally extending bracket arm 7, which terminates at its extremity in an up-standing hook 8 adapted to receive and support the article to be suspended. Secured to the opposite sides of the arm 7 are other hooks 9 and 10 adapted for the support of a shovel l designates a the nnproved hanger Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed December 8, 1909.

and a poker or similar articles used about a stove.
l1 designates a brace or foot which extends downwardly below the collar or band 2 and in the preferred embodiment of the invention, the said brace is formed integrally with the bracket arm 7, constituting an L- shaped extension of said arm.
In practice the hanger may be fitted to a stove pipe or analagous support by removing the clamping bolt or fastening 6 and opening the collar so as to pass the members thereof upon opposite sides of the support or around the stove pipe 1, after which the members of the collar are brought together with the inner end of the arm 7 between the lugs 5 in position to admit of the clamping bolt 6 being passed through the registering openings formed in the lugs 5 and arm 7. The collar may be moved upwardly or downwardly upon the stove pipe or support 1 to bring the hanger to the required position and is secured in the located position by having the toe or lower end of the brace or foot 11 bearing against the side of the stove pipe, the part 11 beingheld in engagement with said stove pipe by the weight of the outer portion of the arm 7 and by the articles suspended from the hooks thereof. By grasping the outer end of the arm 7 and lifting upon the same the toe or lower end of the brace 11 is disengaged from the stove pipe sufficiently to admit of the hanger being moved vertically on the stove pipe, as will be readily understood.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the advantages of the construction and of the method of operation will be readily ap parent to those skilled in the art to which the invention appertains, and while I have described the principle of operation of the invention, together with the device which I now consider to be the embodiment thereof, I desire to have it understood that the device shown is merely illustrative, and that such changes may be made when desired as are within the scope of the claim appended hereto.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new, is
A stove pipe hanger comprising similar members outwardly curved between their ends to form a collar to encircle the stove 7 pipennd pivotallyponnected at one of their I ends and having oiistanding lugs ail thieilir opposite ends,'an arm provided at itsouter end with hooks and at its inner end with n downwardly extending foot, and a 'fasten ing for connecting said lugs and passingv through theinner end of the arm and piv- 7 ot illy siipporting the said arm between them,
' said arm being held in horizontal position and thecolla in adjusted position upon the 10
