To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES F. FORSYTH, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Vashington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inBottle-Cap Removers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in bottle cap removers and it relates more particularly to devices of thischaracter which are adapted tobe automatically locked in place and held in position by the cap when the same is seated upon the bottle.

To this end and to such others as the invention may pertain the same consists in the novel construction of the device as will be more fully hereinafter described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claims.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings which, with the let ters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification and in which Figure l is a perspective view of the bottle neck with the device attached. Fig. 2 is a central vertical section of the same, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the device detached.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a disk which is stamped or formed from sheet metal of a thickness adapted for the purpose and in the form shown, the form shown in the drawings being of substantially circular outline, although it is at once evident that, if for any reason it should be preferred, it may be made rectangular or of other design.

It will be noted that, when the device has been placed over the end of the bottle, it

The device is at all times held securely in place and in position for use in removing the cap, it being simply necessary to force the device upward by means of the lateral extension C, which forms the handle there for, this upward movement serving to displace the cap from its seat.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim to be new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1 1. A device for removing bottle caps, the same comprising a sheet metal disk having a central opening corresponding with the preventing rotary invention will at diameter of the open end of a bottle neck' and to be retained by a shoulder formed upon the periphery thereof, the device being provided with an integral lateral extension.

A bottle cap remover of the character described, the same comprising a metallic apertured disk adapted to be-fitted over the open end of a bottle neck, said collar being provided with a lateral extension forming a handle and with an inwardly and upwardly inclined lug to engage the inner periphery of av bottle cap.

3. A cap remover comprising an apertured disk having an integral handle and adapted to be positioned intermediate the end of the neck of a bottle and a crimped flanged cap;

an inclined lug projecting from the marginal edge of the opening in said disk at an inolination and having serrations at its free end adapted to engage the flange of the cap. In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
