A reinforcing plate 19, formed of metal or other suitable'material, is preferably interposed between the inner sole E and the f he other side thereof and vice versa, so as to permit the device to be used either as a right or left hand supporter. It will of course be understood that whenthe position, of the plate or supporter 5` is changed, that is to say, moved from one side of the shoe o the other, the filling strip 16 will also be hanged so that a smooth bearing surface is y/ provided for the detachable insole regardless Vwithin the shoe.

In this form of the device, the attaching iiange 6l is' extended below the' late 19,while the exposed faces of both t e pad 10 and removable insole 17, are covered with soft leather k21 so as to present a yieldable surface to the foot and thus render the device comfortable to the wearer.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. The combination with'a shoe, of a reversible concave-convex supporting plate having its upper edge provided with spaced incisions defining spring tongues and its v lower edge bent laterally to produce an attaching flange for engagement with the inner sole of the shoe, al pad bearing against the concave face of the plate, fastening de-y vices passing lthrough the pad and tongues for s'ecuringvthe pad in position on said plate, and a reversible filling strip resting on the insole ofthe shoe and forming a continuation of the attaching flange.

The combination with a shoe, of a reversible ,concavo-convex Vsupporting plate havingi'ts upper edge curved and its lower edge bent laterally to produce a flat at'- taching iiange for engagement with the in ner sole of the shoe, a flat reinforcing plate interposed between the inner and outer soles ofthe shoe and extending the entire width ofthe heel thereof, a pad bearing against the concave face of the plate and having its lower edge engaging the upper surface of the attaching iiange and its upper edge exe of the supporting plate to form a yiel able v'flange of uniform widtl1,'a reversible perforated filling strip 'resting on the insole of the shoe a continuation of the attaching iiange, 'an fastening .devices extending through the attachingiiange and perfora tions in the filling strip `and engaging the 'reinforcing plate.4
