A. T. FRANCIS & C. H. ROYCE.
No. 9,703. Patented Jan.l6. 1877.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUSTUS T. FRANCIS, OF PATERSON, NEW JERSEY, AND CHARLES H. ROYCE, OF MONTICELLO, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR BOTTLE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,703, dated January 16, 1877; application filed December 30, 1876 [Term of Patent 7 years.]
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, AUGUSTUS T. Farmers, of Paterson, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, and CHARLES H. ROYCE, of Monticello, in the county of Sullivan and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for a Bottle, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of our design is fully represented in the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
A is the body of the bottle, the form of which is that of the frusta of two dissimilar pyramids united at their base-the lower one B being inverted and of greater height, and having sides of less inclination than the upper one (J. The upper frustum (J forms the connection of the lower main part of the body, with the cylindrical neck D, which is formed upon the pyramidal frustum U, and provided around its base by a bead, a, while one or more similar beads, 1), maybe formed near the mouth of the bottle. A collar or band, 0, is formed around the upper end of the neck. The corners of the pyramidal frusta are cut away, as shown at d, so as to form narrow sides at the corners that run up from its base to the neck. The trapezoidal sides of the lower portion of the bottle are provided with a raised head, 0, which incloses a panel of corresponding shape. The neck of the bottle may be varied in length or diameter.
The distinctive character of our design is found in the form of the body of the bottle and the cut-away corners or narrow sides of the tapering upper portion of the body.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. The design for a bottle composed of a body with a lower part tapering toward the base, and upper shorter part tapering toward the neck, and of a cylindrical neck, substantially as described.
2. The design for a bottle composed of a body, with lower tapering part, having cutaway corners and an upper pyramidal part,
with corresponding cut-away corners, forming narrow sides running up to the neck, substantially as shown and described.
3. The design for a bottle, having a body made of a lower tapering portion with panels formed by raised beads, a tapering upper portion, and a neck, with one or more annular beads, substantially as shown and described.
