Abstract
The invention relates to method for placing a garbage sack made of paper into a stand for filling, and for removing the filled sack from the stand. The sack has inwardly deflected lateral folds (1), and the sack is higher than the stand. The sack also has a lower fold (5) parallel to the bottom. When the sack has been filled, it is raised by the mouth, whereby the lower fold is straightened and the contents are dropped on the bottom of the sack. After this the mouth of the sack can be easily closed.
Description
Method for placing a sack into a stand and removing out of i
The present invention concerns the placing of a garbage sack made of paper into a stand for filling, and the removal of the filled sack from the stand. The invention also concerns a sack to be used in the method and the preparation of the sack.
In households, at present, garbage is collected in plastic sacks placed in particular stands. In view of protection of the environment, it would, however, be preferable to use sacks made of paper or of a corresponding readily decomposing material for this purpose. In the presen systems based on garbage sacks made of paper, conventional paper sacks are used, which sacks are placed empty into the stand so that the bottom of the sack is set against the bottom of the stand. It is natural that people attempt to fill the sack up to the mouth level of the stand. Because of the relative stiffness of the paper mantle, it is then difficult to close the mouth. It is also hard to fold a strip from the mouth of the paper sack against the outer edge of the stand, by means of which strip the sack filled up to the edge of the stand could be closed.
Now a system has been invented, in which a paper sack comprising inwardly deflected lateral folds and a transversal fold at a distance from the bottom is placed into the stand. The sack is placed into the stand so that the folded part is set against the bottom of the stand. After the sack has been filled it is raised by its mouth whereby the fold is opened and the contents are dropped to the bottom of the sack and free mantle is left at the mouth for closing. Preferably the distance of the fold from the bottom is the same as the width of the lateral fold. The sides of the sack bent along the fold can be attached ligthly together e.g. with a glue dissolving in moisture. A preferable embodiment of the invention will be described in the following in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the drawings, Figures 1 and 2 illustrate the sack when empty and flattened, Figure 3 shows the sack opened and placed in the stand, and Figure 4 shows
the sack filled and closed.
The sack is made of a single-layer or multi-layer paper hose blank. The material that is used is, e.g., kraft paper that has been treated so as to give it an adequate wet strength. The circumferential dimension of the hose corresponds to the inner circumferential dimension of the sack stand. The blank is provided with lateral folds 1, whose length when opened is equal to the width of the stand. Thereat, the width of an unopened sack is equal to the length of the stand, and the sack can be placed easily into the stand.
About 15 to 20 cm long cuts 2 are made to the corners of the mouth portion of the sack. These cuts permit folding of the mouth portion of the sack as four separate strips over the edges of the stand. In this way the sack can be attached to the stand.
The bottom 3 of the sack is sealed by using a double adhesive fold. In this way a good sealing is obtained for liquids. Moreover, onto the bottom a bottom patch 4 made of a strong material is applied by means of adhesive, said bottom patch extending across the bottom when the sack is filled. The bottom patch protects the sack bottom from abrasion when a filled sack is, e.g., pulled along the ground while holding the sack by its mouth portion. The height of the sack from the bottom ends of the cuts at the mouth portion to the bottom of the sack is made by one and a half times the width of the stand longer than the height of the sack stand. The sack is folded along a fold 5 parallel to the bottom, placed at the distance of the width of the sack stand from the sack bottom, and, counted from the said fold, at a further distance of half the width of the stand along a second fold 6 in the opposite direction. The sack sides placed against each other at the latter fold are further attached to each other lightly in a suitable way, e.g. by means of a glue point 7, tape, or equivalent. It is particularly recommendable to use an adhesive that dissolves by the effect of moisture. When the sack is now opened and placed into the stand, the folded portion remains
unopened on the stand bottom. The portion opened as a layer equal to the width of the stand fills the stand completely and can be packed full even forcibly without tearing the sack. When the sack is now removed from its stand and raised by its mouth portion, the bottom fold is opened and the contents fall down onto the bottom proper of the sack. At the same time, a sufficient amount of sack wall becomes free at the mouth portion, whereby the sack can be closed and tied readily.
