Abstract

A headcollar coupling which is releasably attached to a headcollar by means of linking attachments (12, 13, 14) and a strap, or chain (10), which is attached to ring (12), passes through the rings of fittings (13 and 14) and is completed with a ring (15), provided for the attachment of a standard leading rope. When put under tension the coupling tightens the noseband of a standard headcollar, thus providing greater control of the horse or pony.

Description

HEADCOLLAR COUPLING
This invention relates to a coupling attached to a headcollar for the control of an unruly horse or pony.
Headcollars are well known items of tack which are fitted onto the heads of horses and ponies, and used when leading them, turning-out and tying-up. Headcollars, however, provide little control of an unruly horse, or of a horse who may become unruly through fright.
According to the present invention there is provided a coupling with a loose-fitting chin strap which tightens when put under tension.
The headcollar coupling is fitted to the noseband attachments of the headcollar.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Fig.1 shows, in perspective, the headcollar coupling.
Referring to the drawing, the coupling comprises a strap or chain 10, secured to a ring and linking attachment 12 at one end, passed through two rings with linking attachments 13 and 14 and is completed with a ring 15. The headcollar coupling is releasably secured to the noseband fittings of the headcollar by means of the linking attachments on the rings 12, 13 and 14.
When leading a horse or pony the leading rope is attached to ring 15.

Claims

1 . A coupling comprising a strap, means of releasably attaching the coupling to the fittings of a standard headcollar, and a ring for attachment of a leading rope.
2. A headcollar coupling as in Claim 1 wherein guide means are provided to control the passage of the strap.
3. A headcollar coupling as in Claim 2 wherein means are provided for the coupling to tighten the noseband of a standard headcollar when put under tension.
4. A headcollar coupling substantially as described herein with reference to Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing.
