Abstract

An absorbent article is described in which a non-water-absorbent substrate is coated on at least one side with a second layer comprising a water-absorbent composition. The water-absorbent layer may be applied as a preformed polymeric material or as a syrup which may be cured in situ to form the water-absorbent material.
