Abstract

The device for disguisement and for local compression, for injection syringes and similar, according to the present invention, consisting of three main structures: a U-shaped infrastructure to be arranged above the syringe, with its concavity turned towards the handle of the same; two cylindrical guides (5), arranged at the sides of the syringe and which - beyond allowing the sliding of the infrastructure at their inside - are provided with a means for adjusting the intensity of the resistance opposed to said sliding; a plastic shape (10) which, appropriately fold, is applied on the metal structure, so as to hide the needle (A) from the view of the patient.

Description

DEVICE FOR DISGUISEMENT AND LOCAL COMPRESSION FOR INJECΗON SYRINGES AND SIMILAR
The present invention concerns a device for the disguisement and for the local compression for injection syringes and similar to be used, e.g., for the local odontostomatological anaesthesia,
Figure imgf000003_0001
the patient a less traumatic approach to the dentist and to his anaesthesiology manoeuvers.
It is well known that the psicologic element in the use of injection syringes is determining, especially if the patients are children, and the sole view of the needle distresses them.
The aim of the present invention, on the contrary, is the one of reducing the psicologic impact of t h e patient, in two concurrent ways:
- to prevent the vision of the needle;
- to mechanically compress the skin or the mucosa before the penetration of the needle, according to a known procedure, that is useful for reducing the muscular tension and make the injection a s painless as possible.
The aim set forth is reached by means of the device according to the present invention, that may be applied to most of the conventional syringes and that modififes the shape as well as the use of a conventional anaesthesia syringe, hiding the needle from the patient's view and allowing the dentist to drive the needle into the mucosa in the most painless possible manner, consisting of three main structures:
- a U-shaped infrastructure to be arranged above the syringe, with its concavity turned towards the handle of the same;
- two cylindric guides, arranged at the sides of the syringe and which - beyond allowing the sliding of the infrastructure at their inside - are provided with a means for adjusting the intensity of the resistance opposed to said sliding;
- a plastic shape which, appropriately fold, is applied on the metal structure, so as to hide the needle from the view of the patient.
The device according to the present invention will be described more in detail hereinbelow relating to the enclosed drawings in which an embodiment is shown.
Figure 1 shows a scheme of a device for the disguisement and for the local compression, for injection syringes and similar. Figures 2 and 3 show the shape for hiding the needle respectively open and closed, with the tongues to be inserted into suitable slits for fastening.
The enclosed figures show a device for the disguisement and for the local compression, for injection syringes and similar, consisting of:
- a U-shaped infrastructure consisting of two small metal rods 1 linked by meas of a movable ring 2, put between and connected with two small hinges 3 so that, during the dynamic functioning of the modified syringe, the U-structure slides or brakes down its motion inside the two guides, due to the presence of a groove 4 onto said two rods 1 ;
- two cylindric guides 5, provided with a small hole arranged in a determined point of the cylinder's wall and crossed by a point 6, pushed inside said cylinder by means of a small spring 7 arranged outside the same and joint in a suitable supporting structure 8, so that during the functioning said point 6 slides along the groove provided in the small rods when the U-shaped infrastructure shall not oppose resistance to the run of the needle A towards the mucosa or inside the same, while said point 6 jumps an inclined plane 9 at the end of the groove when the mucosa is to be compressed: this happens a moment before the puncture of the needle gets into the mucosa, so that this compression takes the patient's mind off and therefore the muscular tension decreases, facilitating the manoeuvres for the local anaesthesia which become quicker, easier, painless and safe; - a plastic shape 10, approptiately fold, and fit for covering the metal infrastructure and g ett i n g fastened onto the same by means of four small tongues 1 1 inserted into two fitting slits 1 2.
The present invention provides the application of the metal outline of a wedge 1 3, arranged outside of the syringe, between the two cylindric guides, and of triangular shape, with the apex turned towards t he point of the needle so that the small plastic disguisement opens while the infrastructure runs inside the two cylindric guides, allowing the constant direct vision of the anaesthetic ampoule, during all the phases of the anaesthesia, otherwise hidden by the covering of the disguisement.
At last, a possible variant of the device according to the present invention for avoiding that during that very delicate moment in a local anaesthesia, when the needle has won the resistance againts the sliding of the U-shaped structure and then quickly penetrates inside the tissues with an inertial force that is diffi- cult to control, provides the presence of two caps 14, out of resin or similar, arranged at the two ends of said U-shaped infrastructure, so as to make the impact of the finger blocking the sliding of the U- shaped structure less traumatic, and so as to allow the needle to quickly pierce the surface mucosa, which is the most sensible tissue, without getting too low into the deeper tissues, which are rather sensitive and where an attentive control of the needle's motions is necessary.

Claims

1 . A device for the disguisement and for the local compression, for injection syringes and similar, that may be used, e.g, in the local odontosomatological anaesthesia, allowing the patient a less traumatic approach to the dentist and to his anaesthesiology manoeuvers, characterized in:
- a U-shaped infrastructure to be arranged above the syringe, with its concavity turned towards the handle of the same;
- two cylindric guides, arranged at the sides of the syringe and which - beyond allowing the sliding of the infrastructure at their inside - are provided with a means for adjusting the intensity of the resistance opposed to said sliding;
- a plastic shape which, appropriately fold, is applied on the metal structure, so as to hide the needle from the view of the patient.
2. A device according to claim 1 , characterized in a U- shaped infrastructure consisting of two small metal rods ( 1 ) linked by meas of a movable ring (2), put between and connected with two small hinges (3) so that, during the dynamic functioning of the modified syringe, the U-structure slides or brakes down its motion inside the two guides, due to the presence of a groove (4) onto said two rods (1 ).
3. A device according to claim 1 , characterized in two cylindric guides ( 5), provided with a small hole arranged in a determined point of the cylinder's wall and crossed by a point (6), pushed inside said cylinder by means of a small spring (7) arranged outside the same and joint in a suitable supporting structure (8), so that during the functioning said point (6) slides along the groove provided in the small rods when the U-shaped infrastructure shall not oppose resistance to the run of the needle (A) towards the mucosa or inside the same, while said point (6) jumps an inclined plane (9) at the end of the groove when the mucosa is to be compressed: this happens a moment before the puncture of the needle gets into t h e mucosa, so that this compression takes the patient's mind off and therefore the muscular tension decreases, facilitating the manoeuvres for the local anaesthesia which become quicker, easier, painless and safe.
4. A device according to claim 1 , characterized in a plastic shape 1 0, approptiately fold, and fit for covering the metal infrastructure and getting fasten- ed onto the same by means of four small tongues 1 1 inserted into two fitting slits 1 2.
5. A device according to claim 1 , characterized in a wedge (1 3), arranged outside of the syringe, between the two cylindric guides, and of triangular shape, with the apex turned towards the point of the needle so that the small plastic disguisement opens while the infrastructure runs inside the two cylindric guides, allowing the constant direct vision of the anaesthetic ampoule, during all the phases of the anaesthesia, otherwise hidden by the covering of the disguisement.
6. A device according to claim 1 , characterized in two caps (14), out of resin or similar, arranged at the two ends of said U-shaped infrastructure, so as to make the impact of the finger blocking the sliding of the U- shaped structure less traumatic.
