Abstract

The invention relates to a surface support specially for floors, walls or the like, comprising substantially rectangular plate-shaped panels (1) with an underside facing the surface (2) which is to be covered, an upper surface (3) facing the room area (3) as well as peripheral face edges (5, 8). The respective face edges of two adjacent panels are provided with tongues (6) while the two other adjacent face edges are provided with grooves (9). When installed, the panels (1) fit closely onto each other due to the tongue/groove joint. In order to improve assembly of said panels so that they can be installed more quickly and economically and to guarantee extremely precise and reliable fit, the panels (1) have locking grooves (20, 22) arranged on their undersides (2) at a distance from their face edges, running parallel to said face edges. At least one fastening clip (17) is inserted into the locking grooves for each second adjacent panel (1). Said fastening clip extends substantially perpendicular to each close-fitting panel (1) face edge and holds the panels tightly together.

Description

Oberflächenaufläge aus tafelförmigen Paneelen Surface coverings made of panel-shaped panels
The invention relates to a surface covering, in particular for floors, walls and the like, consisting of essentially rectangular, panel-shaped panels, each with an underside facing the surface to be clad, an upper side facing the room and circumferential end edges, each of which has two adjoining end edges of a panel with tongues and the two other adjoining end edges are provided with grooves, the panels lying tightly against one another via the tongue and groove connections in the installed state.
Known floors made of prefabricated parquet or laminate floors made of, for example, HDF material (high density fiber board) are generally laid in a floating manner, the panels being inserted into one another only via their tongue and groove connections. Additional adhesive seams can be provided in the areas of the front edges of the panels. The laying is usually problematic, since often no geometrically precise dimensions are given, so that it is extremely difficult to lay the panels without a gap between the joints. Unevenness in the floor, tension in the material and errors in the laying have an immediate effect after laying or at a later point in time, the formation of more or less wide joints that must be avoided.
The invention has for its object to improve the known laying technology in such a way that work can be carried out more quickly and therefore more cost-effectively and that, moreover, extremely precise and safe laying is possible.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the panels have recesses on their undersides at a distance from their end edges and in that at least one fastening clip is pressed into the recesses of two adjacent panels, said fastening clip being essentially transverse to the respective abutting front edges of the panels extends and holds the panels together.
When using the invention, you can connect a first row of the panels firmly and jointlessly and then align this row to the room dimensions, so that no errors occur during further laying that would otherwise add up from row to row in conventional laying techniques . If the front edges are to be glued together, the fastening clips immediately form a firm hold, which favors the gluing process. Subsequent displacement of the panels relative to one another is prevented by the fastening clips, so that afterwards an absolutely smooth surface support with closed joints is created. Optimal results can therefore be achieved with much less effort than before, which could not be achieved with conventional means even with the most careful laying.
The recesses provided on the underside of the panels are preferably designed as continuous clamping grooves which run parallel to the end edges. Because of through outgoing clamping grooves, it is possible to attach the fastening clips at any point and in any number.
Those clamping grooves which are assigned to the end edges of the panels provided with the springs expediently have the same distance from the assigned end edges, while the other clamping grooves which are assigned to the end edges provided with the grooves likewise each have the same distance from the assigned end edges exhibit. This ensures that there is always the same groove spacing between two adjacent panels when laying, so that only a single type of fastening clip is required.
The distance between the end edges provided with the springs and the respective assigned clamping grooves can be greater than the distance between the end edges provided with the grooves and the respective assigned clamping grooves.
The clamping grooves are preferably formed as cutouts which have an essentially rectangular cross section. Such clamping grooves are easy to manufacture and the fastening clips can be easily pressed in. The upper boundary edges of the clamping grooves can be slightly broken or beveled so that the assembly personnel are not injured by any sharp edges. In addition, the bevelled edges of the clamping grooves make it easier to attach the fastening clips.
The fastening clips are preferably designed as spring steel strips, the spring steel strips having hook-shaped offsets at their ends, which are pressed into the clamping grooves of two adjacent panels. The hook-shaped bent portions of the fastening clips can be inclined towards one another and then lie against the inner wall of the respective clamping groove facing the tongue and groove connection. Due to the bends bent inwards can pull the panels against each other under high tensile stress.
The hook-shaped cranks which are inclined towards one another can have a rounded portion at their free ends, so that the fastening clips can be easily pressed in and tensioned. The roundings can be designed as oppositely bent legs, so that the production of the clips is relatively simple.
The oppositely bent legs can rest in the assembled state like a barb on the inner wall of the respective groove facing away from the tongue-and-groove connection, as a result of which the holding ends of the fastening clips lie in the grooves

In the area of the front edges of the panels, the panel material below the tongue and groove connection can have a recess that lies further back than the panel material above the tongue and groove connection. When installed, a slot remains on the underside, while the material on the top lies close together and forms a smooth surface. The pre-tensioning of the fastening clips enables the material above the tongue and groove connection to be firmly pressed together without first causing a system in the lower area in the event of any production inaccuracies. The recess of the panel material is expediently formed on the end edges provided with the springs.
Furthermore, the tongue should only be so long that it does not abut the bottom of the groove in the installed state of the panels, so that it is ensured that the panel material lies tightly and precisely defined against each other in the area of its top side. This effect can also be targeted are supported by the fact that in the area of the front edges of the panels above the spring the panel material has a bevel which protrudes furthest in the area of the top of the panels and forms the only contact area in the installed state. This measure creates a relatively small contact area, which ensures a good and reliable pressing together. In addition, this geometry ensures a good flow of glue if the end edges are to be glued together.

According to the drawing, the surface support, which is provided for floors in the present case, is composed of individual panels 1. The panels 1 are rectangular forms and consists of flat, tabular material, for example HDF material (high density fiber board), which preferably has a thickness of approximately 8 mm for the floor area.
The bottom 2 of the panel 1 to be placed on the floor is provided with balance paper or the like, while the top 3 facing the room is coated with decorative paper, for example with a wood decor.
In each case two adjoining end edges 4, 5 of a panel 1 are provided with an integrally molded spring 6, while the other two adjoining end edges 7, 8 are provided with an incorporated groove 9.
Oberhalb der Feder 6 ist das Paneelenmaterial mit einer Abschrägung 11 versehen, die im BeBereich der Oberseite des Paneels am weitesten zum freien Ende hin vorsteht.3 of the drawing, in which the front edge 5 of the panel 1 provided with the spring 6 is shown on an enlarged scale, the panel material below the spring 6 has a recess 10 which lies further back than the panel material above the spring 6 Above the spring 6, the panel material is provided with a bevel 11 which protrudes furthest towards the free end in the area of the top of the panel.
Nach Fig. 4, in welcher die mit der Nut 9 versehene Stirnkante 8 des Paneels 1 in vergrößertem Maßstab dargestellt ist, ist die Nut 9 mit relativ großen Abrundungsradien im Bereich der Kanten versehen, so daß beim Verlegen ein leichtes Einsetzen der Feder 6 des benachbarten Paneels 1 möglich ist.4, in which the end edge 8 of the panel 1, which is provided with the groove 9, is shown on an enlarged scale, the groove 9 is provided with relatively large radii of curvature in the region of the edges, so that the tongue 6 of the adjacent one can be easily inserted when laying Panel 1 is possible.
In the area above the groove 9, the panel material is provided with a bevel 12. Near the surface, the bevel merges into a flat area 13, which in the installed state interacts with a corresponding flat area 14 above the spring 6 of the adjacent panel, the two flat areas 13 and 14 abutting one another closely. The effective area 15 of the groove depth is somewhat longer than the effective area 16 of the tongue length, so that, as can be seen from FIG. 5, the tongue 6 in the installed state does not completely fill the groove 9. In addition, the recess 10 remains free under the tongue and groove connection, so that two adjacent panels 1 only abut one another in their upper flat areas 13 and 14.
Fastening clips 17, which are made from thin spring steel strips and are attached to the undersides 2 of the installed panels 1, serve for the firm connection of the installed panels 1. The fastening clips 17 are consequently not visible on the surface of the laid support.
The fastening clips 17 are pressed into recesses 18 which are formed on the undersides 2 of the panels 1. As can be seen from FIG. 2, the recesses 18 are designed as continuous clamping grooves 19, 20, 21 and 22 which run parallel to the front edges 4, 5, 7, 8. The clamping grooves are designed as cutouts that have a rectangular cross section.
The clamping grooves 19 and 20, which run parallel to the end edges 4 and 5 provided with the springs 6, have a somewhat larger distance from the end edges, in the present exemplary embodiment of approximately 45 mm. The clamping grooves 21 and 22, which run parallel to the end edges 7 and 8 provided with the groove 9, have a somewhat smaller distance from the end edges, in the present exemplary embodiment of approximately 30 mm.
The fastening clips 17 used in the present exemplary embodiment, which have a width of approximately 20 mm, must, as shown in FIG. 6, bridge the area between two clamping grooves. For fastening in the clamping grooves, the fastening clips 17 have two free ends hook-shaped offsets 23 which are inclined towards one another and bear under tension on the inner wall of the respective clamping groove facing the tongue-and-groove connection. The bends 23 have rounded ends 24 at their free ends, to which legs 25 bent in opposite directions are connected.
As can be seen from FIG. 5, the oppositely bent legs 25 rest in the assembled state in the manner of a barb on the inner wall of the respective clamping groove facing away from the tongue and groove connection.
When laying the panels 1, a row of panels or an offset double row is first firmly connected to the wall of the room with the aid of the fastening clips 17, so that the entire row or double row can be easily aligned with the respective wall. Slipping of the panels 1 relative to one another is prevented by the fastening clips 17. In addition, the end edges of the panels 1 can also be glued before the fastening clips 17 are attached.
The further rows of panels 1 can then be connected to the properly laid first row or double row, the fastening clips serving as fixation in both main directions.
