AN ELEMENT COVERED BY GLUED SOLID WOODBOARD, WOOD BEAM, FRAME, BORDER OR FOOTSTEP BILLET
The invention relates to an element covered by thin glued solid woodboard, like table top plate or equal in furniture and building industry used coated element and to with thin glued solid woodboard covered wooden beam, frame, border or footstep billet, the body of which is made out of tree not so good appearance, and exposed surfaces contain glued woodboard as a cover.
From the utility model FI-1778 is known a multiplier massive wood plate, the body of which is made of crosswise glued, side next to each other put battens and the plate is covered with cut veneer made of leaf tree the having thickness about 0,5 mm or cut battens having thickness 4 - 12 mm.
From the utility model FI-2512 is known a glued woodboard, which consists of side by side to each other glued wooden battens, the width of which is essentially bigger than thickness. The wooden battens have the same length and thickness of the produced glued woodboard is between 2 - 6 mm.
The massive wood plate according to the solution presented before, becomes easily identified by outlook veneer covered plate. Because loose cutting of veneers happens in billet logs grain direction by planing knife or against the grains perpendicular line working veneer-cutting machine, is the grain figure forming to the veneers in both cases unnatural and differs from the normal grain frequency of tree most of all so, however, when made with veneer-cutting machine. Due to that the veneer cover is easily identified and the plate looses then part of its value.
In the latter solution is presented a glued woodboard, which is cut loose out of wood beam bitten so, that each batten has in the plate surface its natural outlook and can be got handling proof uniform woodboard made of battens. As the thickness range has been got 2 - 6 mm.
It has become possible to produce element according to the invention by further
developing the glued woodboard and its manufacturing presented in the utility model FI-2512 so, that glued woodboard can be produced in the thickness class of wooden veneers 0,5 - 2 mm. The element according to the invention is characterized by that, what is presented in the characterizing portion of the claims.
The advantage of the element according to the invention is, that with thin woodboard, as easy bend as veneer, the surface of an element by outlook can be got the same as battenboards surface. So the surface does not remind of veneer cover and so the element has remarkable higher status. It's to be noticed, that expert of scope does not favour woodboard if its surface is recognized to be covered with veneer. Then the hiding board body material most often is considered to be and it is cheapest possible filling.
Thin glued woodboard became possible to produce out of dry wood beam bitten due a new sawing method, when over 700 mm wide glued woodboard can be loosened as under 1 mm thick board out of the bitten. When the board thickness is in the class 0,5 - 5 mm, it can be bend and glued to cover even curved surfaces.
The advantage of wooden beam or frame, border or footstep billet, according to the invention is, that with thin woodboard cover desired surfaces of wood beams or billets can be got by outlook to be very high quality. Surfaces are not like veneer covered and the beams or bittens are by the outlook like they should be made out of selected massive wood. As a basic structure of the bitten can yet use for example knotty or less valued wood.

In figure 1 there are planed, rectangular beams 6 glued into a bitten, out of which is loosen by arrow pointed directional working, a glued woodboard 1. The board 1has, when loosened thickness 0,5 - 5 mm. The board demands easy grinding at least to the other surface. The height of the billet can be even 700 mm and length for example 2400 mm, which measurements become to be board dimensions. Due to the billet structure, the glued woodboard becomes batten of its structure and as the surface figure for the board becomes natural grain figure of the side by side locating battens. The glued woodboard is formed of side by side locating battens 1 '. The breadth of the battens 1 ' can be varied between 10 - 200 mm.
In figure 2 there is presented as a cross sectional figure an element according to the invention, which is covered by glued woodboard 1. As a stiffening body for the element a structural board 7 has been presented in the embodyment of the figure and on top of it has been glued a layer of thicker glued woodboard 8. Board 8 battens are crosswise to batten direction of on the top put thin glued woodboard 1. The glued woodboard 1 can be easily bent, when the board has been bend and glued also to the side surface by using a suitable roundening radius on the corner edge 9. The basic structure of the element can be made stiff by several different ways and by its form desired plane or curved surface and needed portions can be covered with glued woodboard 1. For example table plates, doors, door panel parts etc. will be suitable targets. By using thin glued woodboard according to the invention applied especially to plane surfaces, by this method made planes can be got by the outlook dignified. Wood species to the surface board can be chosen according to the need and the surface cannot be by mistake thought to be veneer covered.
In figure 3 there is a frame billet, the basic structure of which forms out of three wood battens 2, which are low valued, possible knotty wood and which are glued to each other. A glued woodboard 1 has been glued as a surface for the basic structure, the thickness of which board is for example 1 - 5 mm. The glued woodboard 1 has been
loosened for example out of sawn timber billet according to figure 1 , which billet is glued together of selected wood in order to get high quality outlook. Loosening happens by sawing 1 - 5 mm thick woodboard loose out of the billet. Also other kind of mechanical loosening can come in question.
In figure 4 there is presented, how a proper frame design has been planed from the billet, which includes lap 4 and grooves 3. The glued woodboard surface 1 remains into sight in the window frame in question, as inside surface. So being the ready made the frame can be painted with for example lacquer, when the high quality wooden surface of the glued woodboard 1 remains on sight in between the window panes. The other surfaces of the frame are covered with used constructions like laths. Both horizontal and vertical surfaces of the lap 4 can also be separately covered with glued woodboard. It can be also arranged that the lap 4 is in such kind of edgebatten, which is the same woodspecies as the glued woodboard itself, when there is no need to cover the lap 4 with woodboard.
In figure 5 there is middle frame, which is used to divide bigger windows into parts. Its both sides are covered with glued woodboard 1. By broken lines are presented symmetric final design of the frame where glued woodboard stays on sight in both sides of the frame.
In figure 6 there is a footstep solution, where high quality glued woodboard 1 is used to cover footsteps top level. Footsteps basic structures The outermost battens 5 of the basic structure of footstep are made of the same wood species as glued woodboard 1 , when the footstep looks outwards like it has been made out of selected battens. The outermost battens 5 and the glued woodboard 1 can be of hardwood, like oak. Also a glued woodboard 1 can be glued to the underside of footstep billets, if the underside remains on sight. The vertical edges of the footstep billets can be glued woodboard 1, when battens 5 can be replaced with battens 2.
Also in the frame billet according to figures 1 , 2 and 3 the outermost battens can be arranged of the same wood species as glued woodboard 1. If the lath does not cover
the edges of the frame, the visible parts of the frame become with this arrangement equal in quality.
In visible remained supporting horizontal or vertical beams, and pillars, window and door frames and window casings especially from the inside surfaces and possibly from the edge parts and footsteps from the desired surfaces can be covered according to the invention. Figures 7, 8, 9 and 10 presents wooden beam, frame, casings and footstep billets equally as figures 3 - 6, except , that the glued woodboard 1 has been replaced by glued woodplate 1a. The woodplate 1a has been loosened by sawing or mechanically from one integral wood made sawn timber billet, which is most suitable made out of selected wood billet.
