Description

A bracket for use in the mounting of things on objects
The present invention relates to a bracket for use in the mounting of things on objects.
The object of the invention has been to provide a bracket for use in the mounting of things on objects, said bracket being simple, easy to mount and relatively inexpensive in mass production.
This is achieved according to the invention by a bracket which is characterized in that it at least comprises a housing, a flexible band and a screw, and wherein the housing has a first passage for a first end of a flexible band and a second passage for a second end of the flexible band, and wherein the two passages inside the housing meet a recess for the screw, and which ends on the outer side of the housing, and wherein the recess and the ends of the bands, once they have been inserted into the recess and are positioned at the side wall thereof, are adapted such that the screw, when tightened against a stop in the recess, pulls the ends of the band through the housing, said band having side faces formed with threads which face the screw, and which are activated by it. The bracket is secured in that the flexible band is placed around the element to which it is to be secured, and the housing is moved with the passages intended therefor inwardly over the ends of the flexible band. The screw is inserted between the ends of the flexible band and is screwed in. The tightening of the screw creates a uniform pull at both ends of the band. The screw may be provided with the desired form of slot, e.g. a straight slot, a cross slot, a hexagonal internal slot.
In a particular embodiment, the bracket additionally comprises means for attachment to another article. The bracket may hereby be used for mounting various articles on the objects.
In a special embodiment, the attachment means allow re- peated assembly and disassembly of the bracket and the article. Hereby, an article may be removed from a bracket and another be mounted, as desired. A special embodiment of this type of attachment means is achieved in that the means are formed by rails or depressions which are re- ceived by depressions or rails, respectively, in the article .
In a further embodiment of the article, it comprises a housing with a hole extending completely or partially therethrough for receiving the end of a rod or rod-shaped element. It may hereby be used for mounting e.g. a canopy on a staved bed, where the rod holding the canopy is placed and held in the housing.
In another embodiment, the bracket itself comprises a hole extending completely or partially therethrough for receiving the end of a rod or rod-shaped element on the object which is to be mounted. It will be appreciated that the bracket may form part of the object which is to be mounted.
In an embodiment, the hole for the rod or the rod-shaped element intersects the hole for the screw. A particularly expedient embodiment is here that the two holes are posi- tioned such that the screw is screwed against the rod or the rod-shaped element when this is placed in the hole intended therefor, so that the rod is secured thereby. In addition, the object is secured actively without the use of further elements. The invention will be explained more fully below with reference to the accompanying drawing, which shows a bracket specially intended for the mounting of a canopy on a child's bed with staved sides. In the drawing:
Fig. 1 shows a bracket according to the invention,
fig. 2 shows part of a staved child's bed with a canopy mounted thereon,
fig. 3 shows a cross-section of the child's bed shown in fig. 2,
fig. 4 shows the bracket seen from the front,
fig. 5 shows the bracket seen directly from above,
fig. 6 shows a flexible band for the bracket, seen from the side and provided with threads, and
fig. 7 shows the flexible band seen from the edge,
fig. 8 shows the bracket and how an article may be mounted on the bracket.
As will appear from fig. 1 of the drawing, the bracket according to the invention comprises a housing 1, a flexible band 2 and a screw 3. The bracket is made of injection moulded plastics.
It is shown in fig. 2 of the drawing how the bracket is used for securing a canopy on a staved bed. The canopy is carried by a canopy post 4 whose end is secured in the brackets 5a, 5b attached to a stave 6 in an end gable or side of the staved bed. As will appear from fig. 3, which shows a cross-section of fig. 2, the difference between the upper and lower brackets 5a, 5b is exclusively that the upper bracket has a through hole 7a for receiving the end of the canopy post 4, while the corresponding hole 7b in the lower bracket is only partially through-going so that the end of the canopy post rests on the bottom thereof.
In the housing 5a, 5b, from the front end, there are two passages 8a, 8b of rectangular cross-section for receiving their respective ends 9a, 9b of the flexible band. The outer ends thereof are bevelled to facilitate the introduction into the passages. The ends 9a, 9b are also provided with threads 10 for cooperation with the screw 3. The passages 8a, 8b for the flexible band meet a recess 11 for the screw 3 inside the housing. Upon insertion of the flexible band into the passages, the ends 9a, 9b will be disposed at each side of the recess 11, and when the screw 3 is screwed in between these and is tightened against a breast 12, the ends of the flexible band will be pulled through the housing. Thus, when placed around a stave 6, the band will be tightened against it, whereby the bracket is secured.
When the two brackets 5a, 5b have thus been secured, the end of the canopy post may be passed down into the holes 7a, 7b.
Figure 8 shows another embodiment of the bracket 11 which is provided with rails 12, thereby allowing mounting of an article 13 with depressions for receiving a rod, as described above. The depressions of the article are dimensioned such that the rails 12 may slide into the depressions. The article is not restricted to being shaped as shown in the figure. Thus, a wide range of articles for different purposes is conceivable, provided that these are formed with depressions for receiving the rails on the bracket 11.
