Abstract

Système et procédé de détection automatique d'un service de ligne numérique (DSL) sur des lignes téléphoniques multiples. Un modem DSL est couplé aux lignes téléphoniques multiples et sonde périodiquement les lignes jusqu'à l'identification de la ligne à laquelle le service DSL est associé. Dans un mode de réalisation, le modem DSL comporte des relais destinés à commuter périodiquement la connexion entre les lignes jusqu'à ce que la ligne à laquelle le service DSL est associé soit identifiée. Le modem DSL sonde chacune des lignes en vue de la détection d'un service DSL en émettant des tonalités d'activation sur chacune des lignes et en attendant une réponse du service DSL. Pour réduire la quantité de bruit audible associée aux relais de commutation et pour réduire l'affaiblissement d'insertion dû aux relais, il est possible d'employer à la fois des relais à semi-conducteurs et mécaniques. Les relais à semi-conducteurs effectuent la fonction de sondage du modem DSL puisqu'ils peuvent commuter périodiquement et silencieusement entre les lignes téléphoniques multiples. Puis, une fois que le modem DSL a identifié la ligne téléphonique sur laquelle le service DSL est présent, les relais mécaniques sont mis en marche pour éviter le fort affaiblissement d'insertion associé aux relais à semi-conducteurs.
