Abstract

The present invention discloses multi-stage bridge amplification methods which employs a double-stranded amplification product to initiate a subsequent stage of amplification. This double-stranded amplification product is formed during an amplification reaction and can be used to establish an iterative process. Using this double-stranded amplification product, the efficiency of bridge amplification increases significantly as a result of multiple stages of bridge amplification and permits, for example, the detection of a target molecule using a non-radioactive label (such as fluorescence).
