Abstract

An electrical connector for reducing crosstalk in an electrical system. The electrical connector includes a dielectric housing for coupling with a mating connector and adapted for mounting to an electrical component. The electrical connector also includes a plurality of contacts mounted to the housing and configured to electrically engage corresponding contacts of the mating connector. Each of the contacts has a conducting portion for conducting a signal between the mating connector and the electrical component. Each of the contacts also has a free end portion electrically coupled to the conducting portion. A compensation device for reducing crosstalk is electrically connected to the free end portions of the contacts. An electrical connector assembly including such an electrical connector mounted to a circuit board is also provided.
