Abstract

The liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal layer (104), a color filter layer (105), a quarter-wave plate (102) and a polarization plate (101). The liquid crystal layer (104) is provided between a first substrate (106) and a second substrate (103). The color filter layer (105) is made of cholesteric liquid crystal layer which is formed on a side where the liquid crystal layer (104) exists of the first substrate (106). The quarter-wave plate (102) and the polarization plate (101) are provided on the second substrate (103).
