Abstract

The invention provides an earplug (10) device including a stalk (12) having a leading edge (14) of about 8mm diameter insertable into an ear (not shown) of a user. Extending from the stalk (12) two spaced apart flange like elements (16, 17) having a substantially domed shape and defining a cavity (18, 20) between each flange and the stalk, the leading edge (14) adjacent flange (16) is about 10 mm in diameter and has a flexible zone (22) located intermediate the centre (24) and the circumference (26) of the dome and configured such that when the flexible zone (22) at least partially flexes towards the stalk (12) forming one or more inflection point (28) in the dome shape, the rigidity of the leading edge adjacent flange (16) is increased.
