Definitions
- the present invention relates to a sealed container filled with water intended for the manufacture of an ice cube, of the type comprising a tray having a peripheral wall closed on one side by a bottom and delimiting on the other side an extraction opening of the ice cube container, the container comprising a seal closing the tray sealed above the opening.
- each container has a substantially parallelepiped shape. It has four side faces closed at one end by a square bottom. To facilitate demoulding of the ice cube, the bottom has a network of point protuberances projecting inside the container. These protrusions weaken the bottom and facilitate its deformation for the release of the ice cube.
- the invention aims to provide a container allowing the ice cube to be easily removed from the mold, in particular by allowing the user to eject the ice cube with one hand.
- the subject of the invention is a sealed container filled with water intended for the manufacture of an ice cube, of the aforementioned type, characterized in that the bottom has an inwardly returning deformation of the tray which delimits externally a transverse groove extending from one end to the other of the bottom and opening at each of its ends on the peripheral wall of the tray, this bottom having two beads extending from one side to the other of the groove.
- the sealed container 30 includes one or more of the following characteristics
- the bottom has a greater length, and the groove extends along the greater length of the bottom;
- the bottom is rectangular, and the groove extends in the middle part of the bottom;
- the groove has a concave bottom on the outside, connecting tangentially to the top of the beads bordering the groove;
- the peripheral wall widens gradually from the bottom towards the opening, the peripheral wall having side faces in relief; the sealing lid includes inscriptions; and - the opening is bordered by an external peripheral rim extending the peripheral wall, and the sealing cover is sealed on said external peripheral rim.
- a further subject of the invention is a packaging for the production of ice cubes, characterized in that it comprises at least two containers as described above, placed side by side, the peripheral edges of the adjacent trays being made of one piece, and in that weakening lines are provided on the edges between the adjacent trays to allow separation of the trays.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a package for the production of ice cubes incorporating several sealed containers according to the invention
- Figure 2 is a perspective view of a container according to the invention during a release phase of an ice cube.
- the packaging 10 shown in FIG. I is intended for the manufacture of four edible ice cubes each formed from a block of ice that can be used for cooling a drink contained in a glass.
- the packaging 10 is made up of four containers 10A, IOB, 10C, IOD according to the invention, each delimiting an enclosed space containing a defined quantity of water for the production of a single ice cube and a large air bubble sufficient to compensate for the expansion of the water during freezing.
- the containers are connected to each other to form a plate.
- the packaging 10 comprises a tray 12 consisting of a thermoformed polymer sheet in which are delimited four cells 14A, 14B, 14C, 14D each forming a tray of a container.
- Each cell is filled with water and is closed by a common sealing sheet 16 sealed on the plate 12 at the periphery of each cell.
- the tray 12 has only two trays.
- the outer surface of the lidding sheet 16 defines a flat surface suitable for receiving prints of all kinds, and in particular advertising or promotional information.
- Each tray has a peripheral side wall 18 closed on one side by a bottom 20 and delimiting on the other side an opening 22 for extracting the ice cube. This opening is initially closed by the sealing sheet 16.
- the opening 22, of generally rectangular shape, is bordered by a peripheral outer rim 24 extending the peripheral wall 18.
- the four trays delimited in the tray 12 have come integrally with each other in the region of their peripheral rim 24.
- the sealing sheet 16 is sealed on each tray on the rim 24 of the opening 22, according to a peripheral weld 25 illustrated by a screen made up of dots.
- a corner 16A of the lidding sheet 16 is kept free and is not welded to the rim 24. It forms a gripping tab making it possible to easily grasp the lid for its removal.
- Each tray defines a generally parallelepiped enclosed space.
- the peripheral wall 18 has four faces extending substantially perpendicular to each other. They thus have two main faces 26 of greater length and two transverse faces 28 of shorter length.
- peripheral wall 18 defines in planes parallel to the plane in which the opening 22 extends, a contour of progressively decreasing cross section of the opening 22 towards the bottom 20. In other words, the peripheral wall 18 widens from the bottom 20 to the opening 22.
- each tray has a reentrant deformation towards the inside of the tray.
- This deformation externally delimits a transverse groove 30 extending from one end to the other of the bottom and opening at each of its ends the peripheral lateral wall 18 of the tray.
- the groove 30 or groove opens on the bottom of the tray. on the opposite side to the enclosed space filled with water.
- the groove 30 extends parallel to the main face 26 of greater length of the container.
- This groove is advantageously defined in the middle part of the bottom. It defines on either side, on the bottom, two lateral beads 32 formed at the base of the main faces 26.
- the groove 30, as well as the lateral beads 32 are rectilinear.
- the groove 30 has a bottom 34 having a substantially curved cross section whose concavity is turned towards the outside of the container.
- the bottom 34 is connected to the top of each bead 32 by a sidewall having a continuously differentiable profile, the direction of the concavity of which reverses in the middle part of the sidewall, the sidewall tangentially connecting to the top of the bead 32.
- the groove 30 extends over substantially a third of the width of the bottom 20.
- the beads 32 and the groove 30 each extend approximately over a third of the width of the bottom 20.
- the depth of the groove 30, and therefore the height of the beads 32 is substantially equal to the width of the groove 30.
- the depth of the groove 30 is for example equal to a quarter of the total depth of a tray.
- the depth and width of the groove is much greater than the thickness of the polymer sheet forming the plate 12, which sheet can be manually deformed.
- the trays 14A to 14D which have come integrally from one another by the peripheral edges 24, have between them weakening lines 40, constituted for example by a succession of notches forming pre-cuts between the trays.
- the precuts allow the rupture of the plate 12, and thus the separation of the containers.
- a single weakening line can be provided, allowing the repair of the trays in groups of two.
- the lidding sheet 16 is also precut with the same notches as those made in the plate 12.
- the containers initially connected to each other are separated by rupture along the lines of weakness 40.
- the cover of a container is removed by peeling, causing the rupture of the peripheral weld 25.
- the tray thus open is then returned so that the opening 22 thereof is oriented downwards.
- the user's fingers are then applied on either side of the beads 32 and a tightening force is applied so as to bring the two beads closer to each other as illustrated by the arrows F.
- This bringing together of the two beads 32 is made possible due to the presence of the groove 30 exerting a hinge function.
- the ice cube tends to be expelled through the opening 22 of the tray.
- the clamping force exerted by the fingers on the beads 32 for the deformation of the bottom creates a force on the ice cube by cam effect, this force being applied in a direction perpendicular to the full opening 22.
- the bottom generally has in its middle part a fold or articulation line, allowing the user by a clamping stress applied on either side of the bottom, to exert an extraction force on the ice cube during the deformation of the bottom.
- each container is filled with water to which syrup has been added.
