Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere, wobei das bioaktive Glas 40 bis 90 Gew.-% SiO2, 4 bis 45 Gew.-% CaO, O bis 35 Gew.-% Na2O, 2 bis 16 Gew.-% P2O5, O bis 25 Gew.-% CaF2, O bis 10 Gew.-% B2O3, O bis 8 Gew.-% K2O und/oder O bis 5 Gew.-% MgO enthält. Die vorgliegende Erfindung betrifft weiter ein Polymer mit bioaktivem Glas, wobei bezogen auf sein Gesamtgeweicht 1 bis 30 Gew.-% an bioaktiven Glaspartikeln enthalten sind. Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft schlie?lich die Verwendung des bioaktiven Glases im Haushalt, in der Verpackung, in der Lebensmittelverarbeitung, in Dichtmassen, in der Kleidung, im medizinischen Bereich, im Sanitärbereich, im Automobilbereich, im Baubereich sowie als Kunstoffbeschichtung und im Klebebereich.

Description

Polymere mit bioaktivem Glas mit antimikrobieller Wirkung
Die Erfindung betrifft Polymere mit einem antibakteriellem und fungizidem bioaktivem Glas als Zusatz.
Es ist bekannt, dass eine antibakterielle und fungizide Wirkung bei Polymeren durch Einbringen von Aiuminosilikaten, wie Zeoiithen erreicht werden kann, siehe JP-A-3145410; JP-A-1164721 , US-A-6071542, JP-A-03145410, US-A-5698212, US-A-5939087, US-A-5827524, EP-A-732052. Die Aluminosilikate enthalten in geringen Mengen antimikrobiell wirkende Schwermetallionen wie Ag, Cu, Zn, Sn Pb, Bi, Fe, Cr. Die eigentliche antibakterielle Wirkung geht hierbei von den eingebrachten Schwermetallionen aus, wobei das Zeolith nur als Matrix dient und keine antibakterielle oder fungizide Wirkung besitzt. Ferner ist bekannt, dass eine antimikrobielle Wirkung durch Einbringen von Silber in Glas erzielt werden kann, siehe JP10158037, JP6100329. Schwermetalle (wie z.B. Ag, Cu, Zn, Sn Pb, Bi, Fe, Cr) können Reaktionen des Körpers bis hin zu allergischen Reaktionen oder Schädigung von Organen verursachen.
Organische, aktive mikrobiell wirkende Verbindungen wie Triclosan (Trich- lorhydroxydiphenylether) oder Paraben (p-Hydroxybenzoate) können ebenfalls zu gesundheitlichen Problemen und allergischen Reaktionen führen. Außerdem sind organische Verbindungen schwer lokal zu fixieren.
Außerdem ist bekannt, dass eine antibakterielle und fungizide Wirkung bei Polymeren durch Einbringen von metallorganischen Substanzen erreicht werden kann. Hier werden z.B. Quecksilber- und/oder Kupferorganyle verwendet, bei etwa 70% der Produkte basiert die Wirkung auf Arsen. Diese Substanzen sind wegen der toxikologischen und ökologischen Gefährdung bedenklich.
Die Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung besteht darin, ein antibakteriell und fun- gizid wirkendes Additiv für Polymere ohne schädigende Nebenwirkung bereitzustellen.
Die Lösung der Aufgabe erfolgt durch ein bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere, wobei das bioaktive Glas 40 bis 90 Gew.-% SiO2, 4 bis 45 Gew.-% CaO, 0 bis 35 Gew.-% Na2O
2 bis 16 Gew.-% P2O5,
0 bis 25 Gew.-% CaF2,
0 bis 10 Gew.-% B2O3,
0 bis 8 Gew.-% K2O und/oder
0 bis 5 Gew.-% MgO enthält.
Das erfindungsgemäße bioaktive Glas weist antibakterielle und fungizide Wirkung in Kunststoffen auf und ist gleichzeitig toxikologisch unbedenklich, insbesondere enthält das bioaktive Glas keine toxischen Schwermetalle.
Es hat sich herausgestellt, dass bioaktives Glas, das im wesentlichen nur SiO2, P2O5> Na2O und CaO enthält, sich als Zusatz zu Polymeren eignet. Das bioaktive Glas erfüllt den Anspruch der toxikologischen Unbedenklichkeit, da es keinerlei Schwermetalle oder organisch aktive Verbindungen enthält.
Die Glaszusammensetzung beeinflusst die Abgabe von Ionen. Durch Austausch von Ionen mit der wässrigen Umgebung wird eine antibiotische Wirkung erzielt, die je nach ionischen Anteil von biostatisch bis hin zu biozid eingestellt werden kann. Weiterhin hervorzuheben ist eine mögliche Langzeitwirkung, da die Abgabe der Ionen durch Variation der Glaszusammensetzung gesteuert werden kann.
Eine bevorzugte Ausgestaltung der Erfindung ist ein bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymer, wobei das bioaktive Glas
40 bis 60 Gew.-% SiO2,
10 bis 30 Gew.-% CaO,
10 bis 35 Gew.-% Na2O,
2 bis 8 Gew.-% P2O5,
0 bis 25 Gew.-% CaF2,
O is 10 Gew.-% B2O3,
0 bis 8 Gew.-% K2O, und oder
0 bis 5 Gew.-% MgO enthält.
Mit dieser Glaszusammensetzung werden als Zusatz zu Polymeren sehr gute Ergebnisse bei der antibakteriellen und fungiziden Wirkung erreicht.
Eine weitere bevorzugte Ausgestaltung der Erfindung ist ein bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere, bei dem die Glaspartikel eine mittlere Teilchengröße von kleiner 100 μm aufweisen. Mit dieser Teilchengröße wird eine Erhöhung der Reaktivität erreicht.
Eine besonders bevorzugte Ausgestaltung der Erfindung ist ein bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere, wobei die Glaspartikel eine mittlere Teilchengröße von kleiner 5 μm aufweisen. Mit dieser Teilchengröße wird eine starke Erhöhung der Reaktivität erreicht.
Eine ganz besonders bevorzugte Ausgestaltung der Erfindung ist ein bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere, wobei die Glaspartikel eine mittlere Teilchengröße von kleiner 2 μm, vorzugsweise kleiner 1.5, aufweisen. Mit dieser Teilchengröße wird eine stärkere Erhöhung der Reaktivität erreicht.
Eine weitere Ausgestaltung der Erfindung ist ein bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere, wobei das bioaktive Glas zusätzlich Ag+, Cu+, Cu2+ und / oder Zn+ enthält. Bei dieser Zusammensetzung wird eine synergistische Verstärkung der bio- ziden Wirkung erhalten.
Erfindungsgemäß ist ein Polymer mit bioaktivem Glas vorgesehen, das, bezogen auf sein Gesamtgewicht, 1 bis 30 Gew.-% an bioaktiven Glaspartikeln enthält.
Eine bevorzugte Ausgestaltung der Erfindung ist ein Polymer mit bioaktivem Glas, das, bezogen auf sein Gesamtgewicht, 1 bis 10 Gew.-% an bioaktiven Glaspartikeln enthält.
Erfindungsgemäß ist weiterhin ein Polymer als Trägermaterial für bioaktives Glas vorgesehen, das, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht, 30 bis 90 Gew.-% an bioaktiven Glas enthält.
Eine bevorzugte Ausgestaltung der Erfindung ist ein Polymer als Trägermaterial, das, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht, 30 bis 50 Gew.-% enthält.
Erfindungsgemäße ist die Verwendung des bioaktiven Glases als antimikrobieller Polymerzusatz vorgesehen.
Eine bevorzugte Ausgestaltung der Erfindung ist die Verwendung des bioaktiven Glases im Haushalt, in der Verpackung, in der Lebensmittelverarbeitung, in Dichtmassen, in der Kleidung, im medizinischen Bereich, im Sanitärbereich, im Automobilbereich, im Baubereich sowie als Kunststoffbeschichtung und bei Klebeverbindungen vorgesehen.
In vielen Applikationsbereichen von Polymeren ist eine antibakterielle und fungizide Wirkung erwünscht, wobei diese Wirkung im Allgemeinen jedoch nicht durch toxische Schwermetalle erzielt werden soll. Hierzu zählen Anwendungen in folgenden Gebieten: Silicone im Sanitätsbereich, bei Dichtmassen, Polyacrylate in Babyflaschen, im Bereich Lebensmittelverarbeitung und Verpackung, in Haushaltswaren, im Bereich Kleidung, für medizinische Anwendungen wie Schutzhandschuhe, Katheter oder Wundverbände, Kunststoffbeschichtungen wie bei Griffen oder Waschbecken, Kunststoff bürsten wie Zahnbürsten, Naturkautschuk, Latex wie Matratzen.
Insbesondere von Vorteil sind abrasive Anwendungen, in denen stetig neue O- berflächen mit bioaktivem Glas geschaffen werden. Außerdem von Vorteil sind Anwendungen, bei denen das bioaktive Glas -Additiv außer der antimikrobiellen Wirkung noch Zusatzfunktionen wie die als Stabilisator zur Einstellung der mechanischen Eigenschaften, Viskosität sowie bei der Verarbeitung aufweist.
Ohne den Einsatz von bioaktiven Gläsern im Polymerbereich damit einzuschränken, gibt es Polymere, die sich besonders zur Zugabe von Bioglas eignen. Dies sind insbesondere, PGA bioabbaubares Polymer, LGA bioabbaubares Polymer . Polyamide, Polycarbonate, Polyester, Polyimide, Polyhamstoff, Polyurethane, Organische Fluoropolymere, Polyacrylamide und Polyacrylsäuren), Polyacrylate, Polymethacrylate, Polyolefine, Polystyrole und Styrol Copolymere, Polyvinyles- ters, Polyvinylether, Polyvinylidenchlorid, Vinylpolymers, Polyoxymethylene, Po- lyaziridine, Polyoxyalkylene, Polyethylen, Synthetische Harze (Alkyl Harze, Ami- no Harze, Epoxy Harze, Phenolische Harze, ungesättigte Polyester Harze), elektrisch leitende Polymere, Hochtemperatur-Polymere, anorganische Polymere, Po- lyphenylenoxid, Silicone oder die Biopolymere: Kollagen, Fibrin, Chitin, Chitosan, Cellulose, Cellulose Ester, Cellulose Ether, Enzyme, Gelatine, natürliche Harze, Nukleinsäuren , Polysaccharide, Proteine, Seide, Stärke, Wolle.
Die Wirkung des bioaktiven Glases in Polymeren liegt im antibakteriellen und fungiziden Bereich, bei der Viskositätseinstellung, bei der Verbesserung von mechanischen Eigenschaften, als Stabilisatoren und zum Schutz des Polymers vor Pilzbefall und Zersetzung des Polymers. Bioaktive Gläser zeichnen sich im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Gläsern dadurch aus, dass diese in einem wässrigen Medium reaktiv sind und an ihrer O- berfläche eine Hydroxylapatitschicht ausbilden können.
Kommen bioaktive Gläser mit Wasser oder einer Körperflüssigkeit in Kontakt, dann zeichnen sie sich durch spezielle Reaktionen aus, und zwar werden dabei unter anderem Natrium- und Caiciumionen des Glases durch H+-lonen aus der Lösung in Form einer Kationen-Austauschreaktion ersetzt, wodurch eine Silanol- Gruppen aufweisende Oberfläche entsteht, an welche sich Natrium- und Caici- umhydroxid anlagern. Die Erhöhung der Hydroxyd-Ionenkonzentration führt an der Glasoberfläche zur Aufspaltung der Siloxanverbindung und damit zu weiteren Silanolgruppen bzw. zu lonenaustauschmöglichkeiten.
Das Molverhältnis von Calciumoxid zu Phosphoroxid ist vorzugsweise > 2 und insbesondere > 3 und ist vorzugsweise < 30, insbesondere < 20, wobei Verhältnisse von < 10 besonders bevorzugt sind.
Besonders bevorzugt sind Polymerzusätze, die bioaktive Glaspartikel enthalten, welche SiO2, CaO, Na2O, P2O5, CaF2, B2O3, K2O, und/oder MgO aufweisen.
Der Gehalt an Phosphoroxid beträgt bei beiden der zuvor beschriebenen Arten von bioaktiven Gläsern vorzugsweise mindestens 2 Gew.-%, insbesondere mindestens 4 Gew.-%.
Bei bioaktivem Glas selbst handelt es sich um ein Material, welches eine etwa runde Form, wie beispielsweise Sand, aufweist. Derartige Teilchen können eine Größe bis zu ca. 0,5 bis 1 mm aufweisen, sind jedoch vorzugsweise wesentlich kleiner. Übliche Teilchengrößen sind < 400μm und insbesondere < 200μm, als besonders zweckmäßig haben sich Teilchengrößen <100 μm, vorzugsweise < 90 μm, und im besonderen < 60μm und < 20μm erwiesen. Eine bevorzugte Körnung weist einen Durchmesser d50 von < 10 μm, bevorzugt < 5 μm, besonders bevorzugt < 2 μm auf. Je höher das Verhältnis von Oberfläche zu Gewicht bzw. Volumen ist, um so höher ist auch die antimikrobielle Wirkung der Partikel.
Bevorzugte Kunststoffe sind alle Polymere, in denen der Kunststoff selbst vor Bakterien- sowie Pilzbefall geschützt werden soll oder in Kontakt mit Feuchtigkeit steht und eine bakteriostatische, bakterizide und/oder fungizide Wirkung entfalten soll. Der erfindungsgemäße antimikrobielle Polymerzusatz ist vorzugsweise in einer Menge von bis zu 25 Gew.-%, insbesondere bis 15 Gew.-% bezogen auf das Polymer enthalten. Bevorzugt sind jedoch Obergrenzen von 10 Gew.-% oder 7 Gew.-%, wobei 5 Gew.-% besonders bevorzugt sind. Untere Grenzwerte sind 0,01 Gew.-%, insbesondere 0,1 Gew.-%, wobei 0,5 Gew.-% oder 1 Gew.-% als untere wirksame Menge besonders bevorzugt sind.
Das Polymer kann auch als Trägermaterial für Bioglas verwendet werden. In der Polymermatrix ist dann Bioglas in einer Menge von 10 bis 90 Gew.-%, bevorzugt 30 bis 70 Gew.-%, wobei 30 - 50 Gew.-% besonders bevorzugt ist.
Die gewünschte antimikrobielle Wirkung wird mit den erfindungsgemäßen Polymerzusätzen bereits allein ohne weitere Zusätze, insbesondere ohne Zusatz von Ag+, Cu+, Cu2+ und / oder Zn+ freisetzende Additive erreicht. Die antimikrobielle Wirkung des erfindungsgemäßen Polymerzusatzes kann durch die Zugabe weiterer sterilisierender und/oder keimtötender Mittel, oder auch antibiotisch wirkender Mittel in synergistischer Weise verstärkt werden.

Claims

PATENTANSPRÜCHE
1. Bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere mit antimikrobieller Wirkung, wobei das bioaktive Glas
40 bis 90 Gew.-% SiO2) 4 bis 45 Gew.-% CaO, 0 bis 35 Gew.-% Na2O, 2bis16Gew.-% P2O5, 0 bis 25 Gew.-% CaF2, 0bis10Gew.-%B2O3, 0 bis 8 Gew.-% K2O und/oder 0 bis 5 Gew.-% MgO enthält.
2. Bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere mit antimikrobieller Wirkung nach Anspruch 1 , wobei das bioaktive Glas
40 bis 60 Gew.-% SiO2,
10bis30Gew.-%CaO,
10bis35Gew.-% Na2O,
2 bis 8 Gew.-% P2O5,
0 bis 25 Gew.-% CaF2,
0bis10Gew.-%B2O3,
0 bis 8 Gew.-% K2O, und oder
0 bis 5 Gew.-% MgO enthält.
3. Bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere mit antimikrobieller Wirkung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei die Glaspartikel eine durchschnittliche Teilchengröße von kleiner 100 μm aufweisen.
4. Bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere mit antimikrobieller Wirkung nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, wobei die Glaspartikel eine durchschnittliche Teilchengröße von kleiner 5 μm aufweisen.
5. Bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere mit antimikrobieller Wirkung nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, wobei die Glaspartikel eine durchschnittliche Teilchengröße von kleiner 2 μm aufweisen.
6. Bioaktives Glas als Zusatz für Polymere mit antimikrobieller Wirkung nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, wobei das bioaktive Glas zusätzlich Ag+, Cu+, Cu2+ und / oder Zn+ enthält.
7. Polymer mit antimikrobieller Wirkung mit bioaktivem Glas nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, wobei bezogen auf sein Gesamtgewicht 1 bi 30 Gew.-% an bioaktiven Glaspartikeln enthalten sind.
8. Polymer mit antimikrobieller Wirkung mit bioaktivem Glas nach Anspruch 7, wobei bezogen auf sein Gesamtgewicht 1 bis 10 Gew.-% an bioaktiven Glaspartikeln enthalten sind.
9. Polymer mit antimikrobieller Wirkung als Trägermaterial für bioaktives Glas nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, wobei bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Gehalt an bioaktiven Glas von 30 bis 90 Gew.-% liegt.
10. Polymer mit antimikrobieller Wirkung als Trägermaterial nach Anspruch 9, wobei bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Gehalt an bioaktiven Glas von 30 bis 50 Gew.-% liegt.
11. Verwendung des bioaktiven Glases nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, als antimikrobieller Polymerzusatz.
12. Verwendung des bioaktiven Glases nach Anspruch 11 , im Haushalt, in der Verpackung, in der Lebensmittelverarbeitung, in Dichtmassen, in der Kleidung, im medizinischen Bereich, im Sanitärbereich, im Automobilbereich, im Baubereich sowie als Kunststoffbeschichtung oder Klebeverbindung.
