Abstract
The invention relates to a method for the production of particular light guide bodies and devices fitted with said particular light guide bodies. The invention finds application in the representation of information, in the display itself and in illumination technology. The aim of the invention is to provide a solution in which the transparency of the light guide medium is not reduced by scattering effects and by means of which information and functions are so represented that the mechanical surface of the light guide body remains mechanically undamaged. Furthermore the information or functions should be protected from mechanical access and environmental influences, costly protective coatings should be avoided and the emitted light should have an improved brightness. Said aim is essentially achieved, whereby the information content for a device for informational representation or display is carried, not on the surface but rather, within the transparent medium by means of a particular method. Said method is characterised in that locally defined regions with modified refractive indexes are generated by various methods. Fig. 5b shows a simulation of illumination using an artificially illuminated window drape, provide with micro-lenses and into which light is injected by means of SMD-LEDs.
