Abstract

The invention concerns a glove comprising an outer envelope (2) made of a material with sealing characteristics and an internal lining made of a heat-insulating material. Additionally, the finger tips (4, 5) of the internal lining (7) are covered each with a supplementary cap-shaped envelope (9) seamless at its tip and whereof the lateral stitches (12) are offset relative to those (8) of the internal lining (7).

Description

PROTECTIVE GLOVE AGAINST COLD

The present invention relates to a protective glove against the cold.

A glove is generally composed of an outer envelope made of a material having sealing characteristics, such as leather, coated fabric, or other material, and an inner envelope generally composed of an insulating material also ensuring the comfort of the hand inside the glove.

The outer shell and the inner lining are made from a number of parts joined by seams. Given the complexity of the shape of certain parts of the glove, and in particular of the fingers thereof, certain seams of the outer casing and of the lining are located opposite, in particular in the end zones of the fingers . This results in points of weakness and of less resistance to the penetration of cold air, in particular during movement, that is to say when the gloves are used for the practice of certain sports, such as skiing. , the motorcycle, etc. The tips of the fingers are areas particularly sensitive to cold, and which need to be well protected to ensure user comfort. The object of the invention is to provide a glove whose structure makes it possible to improve the isothermal qualities of the glove in the end zones of the fingers, and to avoid the penetration of air into these same zones.

To this end, the glove which it concerns, comprising an outer casing made of a material having sealing characteristics and an inner lining made of a thermal insulating material, is characterized in that the ends of the fingers of the inner lining are each covered with an additional cover in the form of a cap, with no seam at its end and whose side seams are offset from those of the inner lining.

Each additional envelope, advantageously made of a thermal insulating material, covers a finger of the glove, and extends over part of the length thereof, from its end. According to one embodiment of this glove, each additional cover in the form of a cap is produced from a strip of textile material, of generally rectangular shape, the width of which is reduced in its central part, which is folded back on itself around this central part which forms the bottom of the cap, and closed by two side seams. Insofar as there is no seam at the end of each additional cover forming a cap, and since the side seams of this cap are offset with respect to the side seams of the inner lining, there are no zones of direct passage of air from outside to inside, by a partitioning effect. This partitioning effect resulting from the offset of the seams promotes the watertightness of the interior of each finger of the glove. In addition, since each additional envelope is made of a thermal insulating material, the comfort of the user is improved by increasing the layer of insulating material in the end regions of the fingers. In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows, with reference to the appended diagrammatic drawing representing, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of this glove.

The glove shown in the drawing comprises, in a manner known per se, an outer envelope 2 made of a material having air tightness properties, having a zone 3 forming a cuff to receive the wrist and the hand, and delimiting five cavities, one of which 4 for the thumb, and four for the other fingers of a user's hand. The outer envelope of the glove is made from several pieces of material which are assembled by seams, as is apparent in particular from FIG. 4, which shows that each finger of the glove is assembled by four seams 6. Inside the outer envelope 2 is placed a lining

7 made of a thermal insulating material and ensuring the comfort of the user. The lining 7 is made from several pieces of textile material, which are assembled using seams 8, as is apparent in particular from Figure 4. It should be noted that each finger of the lining has two seams 8 located opposite two seams 6 of the outer casing 2.

According to the invention, each finger of the glove is equipped with an additional envelope 9 forming a cap which covers the lining 7 in the zone considered.

Figures 2 and 3 show in detail the structure of each cap. Each cap is produced from a piece of textile material of generally rectangular shape, having a narrowed central part 10. The cap is obtained by folding around this central part, which therefore does not have an end seam, and by closure using two longitudinal seams 1 2. As can be seen in FIG. 4, the two seams 1 2 are offset from the seams 6 and 7, respectively of the outer casing 2 and the lining 6.

The result is, at the seams (6, 8, 1 2) a baffle arrangement, which prevents direct passage of air and promotes the sealing of the interior of each finger of the glove, whose comfort is improved due to the thermal insulation properties provided by the caps.

As is apparent from the above, the invention brings a great improvement to the existing technique by providing a glove for protection against the cold, of simple structure, and promoting the comfort of the user on the one hand by its qualities of thermal insulation in the end areas of the fingers, and secondly by the protection it provides against the penetration of air in these end areas.

As it goes without saying, the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this glove, described above by way of example, on the contrary it embraces all variants. Thus, in particular, the number and the position of the seams of the different constituent parts of the glove could be different, while keeping the seams of each cap offset from the seams of the outer casing and of the lining, or even that only certain fingers of the glove could be fitted with caps, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention.

Claims

1. Glove for protection against the cold, comprising an outer envelope (2) made of a material having sealing characteristics and an inner lining made of a thermal insulating material, characterized in that the ends of the fingers (4, 5) of the inner lining (7) are each coated with an additional cover (9) in the form of a cap, not having a seam at its end and the side seams (12) of which are offset from those (8) of the inner lining (7).

Glove according to claim 1, characterized in that each additional cover (9) in the form of a cap is produced from a strip of textile material, of generally rectangular shape, the width of which is reduced in its central part (10 ), which is folded back on itself around this central part which forms the bottom of the cap, and closed by two side seams (1 2).

3. Glove according to one of claims 1 and 2, characterized in that each additional cover (9) in the form of a cap is made of a thermal insulating material.
