NOSE FILTER
The present invention relates to a nose filter, and in particular to a small- sized filter which can be used for various purposes, for instance in the job, in the medicine, in the motor sports and in the leisure.
Known nose filters comprise filtering members having different shapes to be put onto the nose or inserted into the nostrils of the users. These known filters filter the air which is breathe in and out by the nose, however they show the drawback of hampering the user's respiration since the filtering members, which are generally small-sized, form a barrier to the air passage, during the inspiration and the expiration.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a nose filter which is free from said disadvantages. Said object is achieved with a nose filter, the main features of which are disclosed in the first claim, while other features are disclosed in the subsequent claims.
The particular structure of the nose filter according to the present invention allows an easy respiration of the user during the inspiration, thanks to the large opening which is provided with a filter and is arranged in front of the ducts to be inserted into the nostrils, as well as during the expiration, thanks to the valves arranged on the lateral openings.
Another advantage of the nose filter according to the present invention lies in its comfort of use, due to its small size, to its particular conformation and to its lightness.
Thanks to the possibility of substituting the filtering member which is provided with, the nose filter according to the present invention is particularly versatile, so that it can be employed for various purposes, also not necessarily linked to the filtering of the outer air.
Further, the nose filter according to the present invention is simple and cheap to be manufactured, since it has been designed for being carried out with few parts of plastic material, easy to be assembled.
Further advantages and features of the nose filter according to the present
invention will become clear to those skilled in the art from the following detailed and non-limiting description of an embodiment thereof, with reference to the attached drawings wherein:
- figure 1 shows a perspective view of the nose filter according to said embodiment;
- figure 2 shows a cross-sectional front view of the nose filter of figure 1;
- figure 3 shows an exploded perspective view of the nose filter of figure 1; and
- figure 4 shows a partial cross-sectional perspective view of the nose filter of figure 1, with the indication of the incoming and outgoing airflow. Referring to figures 1 and 2, it is seen that the nose filter according to the present embodiment of the invention comprises a hollow body 1 having a substantially ellipsoidal shape. A pair of ducts 2, 3, substantially parallel and cylindrical with an elliptic cross-section, are fixed to the lateral surface of the hollow body 1 in a substantially perpendicular manner with respect to its longitudinal axis. Ducts 2, 3 are suitable for being arranged into the nostrils of the user, so that they are preferably inserted into sleeves 4 of an elastomeric material, for instance anallergic lattice, which are provided with perimetric flexible fins 5 for ensuring the air tightness and for improving the joining of the nose filter to the user's nose. For this purpose, the shape and the size of the fins may change according to the conformation of the nostrils of each user. For facilitating the introduction into the nostrils, a depression 6 is preferably made in the hollow body 1 between ducts 2 and 3.
On the side diametrically opposed to ducts 2, 3, the hollow body 1 is provided with a large central opening 7 surrounded by an outer frame 8 in which at least one filter 9, for instance anti-dust, anti-pollen, with active carbon, etc., is arranged. It is obvious that in other embodiments of the present invention filter 9 cannot necessarily serve for filtering the air coming from the outside, but can instead serve for other purposes, for example for mixing the outer air with substances in which it is soaked, such as perfumed and/or curative substances which can be inhaled by the user together with the outer air. Filter 9 is kept in position together with the outer frame 8 by an outer cover 10, which is provided
with one or more holes 11 which connect the central opening 7 with the outside. The assembly of frame 8 and cover 10 is preferably pressure-fitted into the central opening 7, so that it can be removed for substituting filter 9, if desired. In this case each interchangeable kind of filter 9 is preferably distinguished by a different colour of the inner frame 8 and/or of cover 10 for facilitating its identification according to the use. One or both sides of the hollow body 1 are also provided with openings, which are surrounded by an inner frame 12 having a substantially cylindrical shape and an outer frame 13 having a substantially circular shape. The inner frame 12 and the outer frame 13 are provided with spokes 14 ending with central hubs suitable for penetrating one into the other for keeping in position a valve 15, in particular made up of a circular membrane of an elastomeric material provided with a central hole.
With reference to figure 3, it is seen that the hollow body 1 is made up of a first portion la which is manufactured in a single piece of plastic material with ducts 2, 3 and is fixed, in particular glued, to a second portion lb, also manufactured in a single piece of plastic material, which comprises the central opening 7.
Referring now also to figure 4, it is seen that the user, once ducts 2, 3 are inserted into his nostrils, can inhale air (shown with arrows 16), which passes through the central opening 7 and is filtered by filter 9, while it does not enter through the lateral openings thanks to valves 15, which stay closed since they cannot band inwards due to the inner frame 12. When the user breathes out, the air (shown with arrows 17) goes out instead through the lateral openings, since valves 15 open by bending outwards due to the pressure difference between the inside of the hollow body 1 and the outside.
Modifications, if any, and/or additions can be made by those skilled in the art to the embodiment of the hereinabove described and illustrated invention, while remaining within the scope of the same invention.
