Abstract

The present invention relates to an ear warmer device. More specifically, the present invention relates to apparatus and methods for making ear warmers (10) and ear warmer frames (200).

Claims

[received by the International Bureau on 23 October 2003 (23.10.03); original claims 1-33 unchanged, claims 34-51 have been added (5 pages)] a second fixedly coupled portion, at least a portion of said first fixedly coupled portion and at least a portion of said second fixedly coupled portion being disposed within an interior of the ear warmer; and a frame configured to be inserted into said shell.
31. The ear warmer of claim 30, wherein said first fixedly coupled portion includes a weld.
32. The ear warmer of claim 30, wherein said frame includes a band member, a first ear frame member, and a second ear frame member, said first ear frame member being fixedly coupled to said band member, and said second ear frame member being fixedly coupled to said band member.
33. The ear warmer of claim 32, wherein said first ear frame member is welded to said band member.
34. An ear warmer, comprising: a shell having an interior; and a frame disposed within the interior of said shell, said frame being integrally formed and including a first ear portion, a second ear portion and a middle portion, said first ear portion of the frame being substantially circular in shape and defining an opening, said second ear portion of the frame being substantially circular in shape and defining an opening, said middle portion of the frame being disposed between said first ear portion of the frame and said second ear portion of the frame.
35. The ear warmer of claim 34, wherein said shell includes an inner membrane and an outer membrane coupled to the inner membrane.
36. The ear warmer of claim 34, wherein said frame is selectively disposable in an extended configuration and in a collapsed configuration, said first ear portion of the frame being proximate to said second ear portion of the frame when said frame is in its collapsed configuration.

37. The ear warmer of claim 34, wherein the openings defined by said first ear portion and said second ear portion are substantially circular in shape.

The ear warmer of claim 34, wherein said shell having a first membrane and a second membrane, the first membrane including a perimeter, a first substantially circular ear portion, a second substantially circular ear portion and a middle portion disposed between the first and the second substantially circular ear portions of the first membrane, the second membrane including a perimeter, a first substantially circular ear portion, a second substantially circular ear portion and a middle portion disposed between the first and the second substantially circular ear portions of the second membrane, at least a portion of the perimeter of the first membrane being coupled to at least a portion of the perimeter of the second membrane.
39. An ear warmer, comprising: a shell having a first membrane and a second membrane, the first membrane including a perimeter, a first substantially circular ear portion, a second substantially circular ear portion and a middle portion disposed between the first and the second substantially circular ear portions of the first membrane, the second membrane including a perimeter, a first substantially circular ear portion, a second substantially circular ear portion and a middle portion disposed between the first and the second substantially circular ear portions of the second membrane, at least a portion of the perimeter of the first membrane being coupled to at least a portion of the perimeter of the second membrane.
40. The ear warmer of claim 39, wherein the perimeter of the first membrane is fixedly coupled to the perimeter of the second membrane.
41. The ear warmer of claim 39, wherein the middle portion of the first membrane is elongated and extends along a line.
42. The ear warmer of claim 39, further comprising: a frame disposed within an interior portion of said shell, the interior portion of said shell being defined between the first membrane and the second membrane.
43. An ear warmer, comprising: a shell having an interior; and a frame disposed within the interior of said shell, said frame being integrally formed and including a first ear portion, a second ear portion and a middle portion, the first ear portion of the frame having a loop portion, the loop portion of the first ear portion including a first end and a second end disposed proximate to the first end of the loop portion of the first ear portion, said second ear portion of the frame having a loop portion, the loop portion of the second ear portion including a first end and a second end disposed proximate to the first end of the loop portion of the second ear portion, the middle portion of the frame being disposed between the first ear portion of the frame and the second ear portion of the frame.
44. The ear warmer of claim 43, wherein said shell has a first membrane and a second membrane, the first membrane including a perimeter, a first substantially circular ear portion, a second substantially circular ear portion and a middle portion disposed between the first and the second substantially circular ear portions of the first membrane, the second membrane including a perimeter, a first substantially circular ear portion, a second substantially circular ear portion and a middle portion disposed between the first and the second substantially circular ear portions of the second membrane, at least a portion of the perimeter of the first membrane being coupled to at least a portion of the perimeter of the second membrane.
45. An ear warmer, comprising: a shell having an interior; and a frame disposed within the interior of said shell, said frame having a first ear portion, a second ear portion and a middle portion, the first ear portion of the frame including a first end coupled to the middle portion of the frame and a second end disposed away from the middle portion of the frame, the second ear portion of the
25 frame including a first end coupled to the middle portion of the frame and a second end disposed away from the middle portion of the frame.
46. The ear warmer of claim 45, wherein the first ear portion of the frame has an arcuate configuration.
47. The ear warmer of claim 45, wherein the first ear portion of the frame is semicircular in shape.
48. An ear warmer, comprising: a shell having an interior; and a frame disposed within the interior of said shell, said frame having a first ear portion, a second ear portion and a middle portion, the first ear portion of the frame defining an open loop and being coupled to the middle portion of the frame, the second ear portion of the frame defining an open loop and being coupled to the middle portion of the frame.
49. An ear warmer, comprising: a shell having an interior, and a frame disposed within the interior of said shell, said frame having a first ear portion, a second ear portion and a band portion, the first ear portion being slideably coupled to the band portion, the second ear portion being slideably coupled to the band portion.

The ear warmer of claim 49, wherein the band portion includes a first passageway and a second passageway, the first ear portion of said frame being configured to communicate with the first passageway of the band portion to slideably couple the first ear portion to the band portion, the second ear portion of said frame being configured to communicate with the second passageway to slideably couple the second ear portion to the band portion.

The ear warmer of claim 49, wherein said shell having a first membrane and a second membrane, the first membrane including a perimeter, a first substantially circular ear portion, a second substantially circular ear portion and a middle portion disposed between the first and the second substantially circular ear portions of the first membrane, the second membrane including a perimeter, a first substantially circular ear portion, a second substantially circular ear portion and a middle portion disposed between the first and the second substantially circular ear portions of the second membrane, at least a portion of the perimeter of the first membrane being coupled to at least a portion of the perimeter of the second membrane.
