Abstract

This invention concerns a holder tray, in particular for office desk drawers. It comprises main body (10) with partitions forming several compartments for the different objects and sliding extension (11) associated with said body and movable between two extreme positions, a closed position and an extracted position, to increase the overall length of the tray. The extension is also a holder tray.

Technical Field

This invention concerns a holder tray, in particular for office desks and the type divided into different compartments to house the different objects such as pens, pencils, paperclips and other items in an orderly fashion. State of the technique

Holder trays for writing desks which can be placed on a flat plane, but which are normally envisaged for placing in and sliding along the sides of a writing desk drawer, are already well known. However not all desks have drawers of the same width; so a single size holder tray cannot satisfy all requirements. In other words there is the need for holder trays with the same number of different sizes as there are widths in the drawers they are housed in. Object and Summary of the invention

This invention is aimed at remedying the above mentioned drawback and facilitating therefore the use and application of holder trays in desk drawers. The aim, in fact, of the invention is to make and provide holder trays which can adapt to all drawer widths within a wide range of sizes, always ensuring the flatness and rigidity of the tray when in use.

This aim is achieved with an adjustable length holder tray essentially comprising a main body with partitions forming several holder compartments and a sliding extension connected to the body and moving between a closed position and an extracted position to increase the length of the main body as required. Fig. 5 shows a cross section as in Fig. 4, but with the two components of the tray assembled;

Figs. 7 and 8 show cross and longitudinal sections of the extension, according to arrows C-C and D-D in Fig. 6, rispectivly. Detailed description of the Invention

The tray shown represented comprises a main body 10 and an extension 11 connected to the body 10 by sliding.

The main body 10 is a tray and has two longitudinal walls 12, two transversal wall 13 and among said walls 12, 13, some partitions on the bottom 14 forming several compartments for different objects.

At least the two longitudinal walls 12 each have an external ledge 15, sloping downwards and which form a channel-shaped guide 16. This is open lengthwise in line with a transversal wall 13, which can also have a ledge facing outwards, whereas the opposite transversal wall has a support fin 13'.

At the top of each longitudinal wall 12, where it joins with the respective external ledge, a guide slot 17 has been obtained having a fixed length and the external walls of which terminate in a rabbet 18.

The extension 11 is also tray shaped but without one transversal wall. It has a back wall 19, two longitudinal walls 20 and one transversal wall 21 from which projects a support fin 21 '.

Each longitudinal wall 20 has, near its free end, that is distant from the transversal wall 21, a first external tab 22 on a level with the back wall 19 and a second tab at the top 23.

The extension 11 connects to the body, by placing the two longitudinal walls 20 in the channel shaped guides 16, inserting the top tabs 23 of said longitudinal walls 20 in the guide slots 17 and at the same time fitting the external tabs 22 under the edge of the external ledge 15 of the longitudinal walls of the main body - Fig. 5.

In this way the extension 11 can be moved and positioned in relation to the main body 10 moving between an extracted and fully inserted position - Figs. 1 and 2 - limited by the top tabs 23 coming into contact with the external rabbets 18 of the guide slot 17. In the same way, it is possible to adjust the length of the tray to adapt it to the width of the drawer it is used with by resting its support fins 13', 21' on the walls of the drawer itself.

Claims

1. A holder tray, in particular for office desk drawers, characterised by a main body (10) with partitions forming several compartments for the different objects and a sliding extension (11) associated with said body and movable between two extreme positions, a closed position and an extracted position, to increase the overall length of the tray.

2. A holder tray according to claim 1, wherein the main body (10) has two longitudinal walls (12) each with an external ledge (15) sloping downwards and forming with their respective wall a channel shaped guide (16), wherein at the top of each longitudinal wall with external ledge a guide slot (17) has been obtained, and wherein the extension (11) has two longitudinal walls (20) designed to fit into and slide in said channel shaped guides (16) and having means for establishing said extreme positions, between which the length of the tray can be varied.

A holder tray according to claims 1 and 2, wherein the longitudinal walls (20) of the extension each have a first external tab (22) and a second tab at the top (23), and wherein when said longitudinal walls (20) fit into said channel shaped guides (16), the top tabs (23) fit into said guide slots (17) whereas the external tabs (22) fit under the edge of the ledges (15) of the longitudinal walls of the main body.

4. A holder tray according to the previous claims, wherein each guide slot (17) is delimited by two end rabbets (18) and wherein said top tabs (23) rest against said rabbets to set said extension limits of the extension with respect to

the main body.
