Abstract

A section mill (180) is positioned below a whipstock (116) or other exit guide in a drill string assembly (18) to mill a window in a cased (110) or open wellbore. The section mill (180) moves down and mills along the section of wellbore, causing the whipstock (116) to be lowered down adjacent the milled-out window and allows the drill bit and drill string to be run along the surface of the whipstock (116) and into the earth formation (300).
