AMENDED CLAIMS [Received by the International Bureau on 23 Nov 2004 (23.11.04); original claims 1-57 has been replaced by amended claims 1,3,7,827,39,33 the remaining claims is unchanged..]
Means of applying tension to tissue under surgical conditions, principally for the expansion of skin and underlying subcutaneous tissue, to close wounds or replace undesired areas of skin, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by implantation in the body tissue of one or more preferably non-elastic sutures or other preferably non-elastic threads penetrating the skin through a channel from the underside of the skin with each end extruding above the skin surface, extending across the wound or skin area between each suture or thread's point of skin penetration and the ends of the suture or thread connecting to an expander or one expander and one locking device and the expander consisting of an expanding body between the front section and rear section of the expander, which can be individually or mutually adjustable, and the expander is equipped with a channel system for connection to the suture or thread which, after attachment of the expander to the suture or thread with its freely moving front section pressed above and against the area where the suture or thread extrudes through the skin, applies tension on the tissue through an adjustable moment of force applied against the skin by the expander's front section after activation of the expanding body which is done preferably by moving the rear section of the expander in the direction towards the front section while simultaneously compressing the expanding body and after compressing the expander body locking the expander's rear section
Expander system for applying tension to tissue under surgical conditions, principally for expanding skin and underlying subcutaneous tissue, for closing wounds or replacing undesired areas of skin comprising one or more preferably non-elastic sutures or other preferably non-elastic threads implanted in and across the tissue penetrating the skin through a channel from the underside of the skin with each end above the skin surface, extending across the wound or skin area between each suture or thread's point of skin penetration and each suture or threads end connecting above the surface of the skin penetration to an expander or one expander and one locking device c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the expander (1) consisting of an expanding body (4) extending between a front section (2) and a rear section (3) adjustably bound together preferably by the expanding body (4), and the rear section (3) is equipped with locking arrangement (6) for movable locking on the suture (13) or thread and by activating the expanding body (4) with desirable force by compressing the expanding body (4), locking the suture (13) or thread at the rear section (3), achieves desirable moment of force towards the skin at the point of the penetration of the suture (13) or thread by the expander's (1) moveably front section (2), which moves freely on the suture (13) or thread.
