Abstract

The invention includes a new composite tower (102) for a wind turbine (104). The tower (102) comprises several nested tower sections (108) that can telescope to increased heights. Each section may be formed from two or more composite panels (302) connected by two or more connectors (304), the sections (108) comprising any of a plurality of polygonal shapes. The panels (302) may further comprise tufted, foam core (306) panels (302) that have a great strength properties. The invention also includes a method for installing and erecting the tower (102) and wind turbine (104).
