Abstract

The invention relates to a combination of two materials, one of which is a rigid material known as EPDM (rubber) and the other being a moulded, vulcanized hydrophilic resin, forming a single body or single profile adapted to all necessary types of geometries, used in metal joinery profiles, wood or other materials which can be used to manufacture said piece of joinery. The properties of said joint are characterized in that the EPDM area provides a rigid support exhibiting a specific degree of elasticity in order to screw or insert the desired profile or area and in that the hydrophilic resin interacts dynamically since the properties thereof result in expansion when chemical reaction occurs with a fluid over a specific time period and according to a desired proportion depending upon the exposure thereof to a degree of humidity or immersion. The inventive system guarantees perfect tightness of the element or set of elements to which it is applied. Tests carried out have revealed that expansion can amount to 8 times the value of the volume thereof and that sealing pressure can amount to 600 kg/cm2, the parameters thereof being conditioned according to the fluid to which the joint was exposed and the amount of freedom determined for the expansion thereof.

Sistema de junta mixta expansiva dinámica de EPDM con resinas Hidrofilicas moldeada y vulcanizada para sistemas de carpintería.EPDM dynamic expansion joint joint system with molded and vulcanized hydrophilic resins for carpentry systems.
2.-SECTOR.-2.-SECTOR.-
Architectural constructions especially for the sector of curtain walls or exterior coatings of the building as well as elements of submerged or partially submerged, or aerial enclosures.
3.-ESTADO DE LA TECNICA.-3.-STATE OF THE TECHNIQUE.-
Currently there are various compounds on the market to make seals in construction elements such as EPDM, Rubber, silicone, etc., materials which perform the function of sealing various construction elements that are in direct or indirect contact with fluids. . These joints are usually adapted to their location having minimum elasticity parameters.
4.-EXPLICACIÓN DE LA INVENCIÓN.4.-EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION.
It is the union of two rigid materials called EPDM (rubber) and a molded and vulcanized Hydrophilic resin, forming a single body or unique profile adapting to the geometric needs that are required, for application in metal, woodwork profiles or other material in which such carpentry could be manufactured.
The properties of said joint are that the EPDM area gives us a rigid support with a certain degree of elasticity to be able to screw or embed in the desired profile or surface, and the Hydrophilic resin is the one that interacts dynamically, since the properties of the they are to expand by chemically reacting with a fluid in desired time and proportion depending on the exposure of the same to the degree of humidity or immersion that is exposed. This system will guarantee the perfect tightness in the element or set of elements where it is applied.
It has been determined that the expansion can be 8 times its volume and 600 kg / cm2 of sealing pressure according to tests performed, the parameters being conditioned to the fluid to which the joint is subjected and the relief distance determined to its expansion
Realization of two profiles for the application of them in standard aluminum carpentry for glazed curtain walls generating a sealing barrier.
2) -Composite of EPDM or similar to give a structural rigidity to the joint having the mission of being an anchor piece adapting to any type of surface.
A practical application of the joints in a standard aluminum carpentry profile is shown in Fig. 2. We observe the aluminum profile (6) and the sheet to be supported, which in this case is double glazed glass (5) where the first standard sealing barrier is made up of EPDM gaskets (7). The expansive joints (3) are located in the standard grooves of said profiles as contemplated in the figure, performing their expansion (4) in case of water ingress or if the degree of humidity inside the chamber exceeds the minimum allowed for that the expansion reaction occurs, produced by filtrations of the first barrier or condensations by thermal transmission. The expansive joints guarantee 100% the tightness of the element considerably reducing the degree of thermal transmission between the exterior of the structural system and the interior of the same.
6.-APLICACION INDUSTRIAL.6.-INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION.
