Abstract

A body-insertable apparatus having a volume variable chamber with a mechanism for taking in or throwing out predetermined fluid is realized. The apparatus has a housing, a balloon member, a passage way communication adjusting mechanism, a control circuit, and a power source and forms a volume variable storage chamber defined by the balloon member and an outer housing member. In the apparatus, a first passageway communication pipe communicates with the inner space of the balloon member and a second communication pipe communicates with the outer space. The communication control mechanism provides fluid communication between the first and the second communication pipe based on an electric current output from the control circuit.
