Description

BOUNDARY BLOCK
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a boundary block installed to divide roads in an apartment area into sidewalks and roadways, and more particularly to a boundary block for reducing noise generated by vehicles traveling on the roadway and for buffering shock when vehicles collide with the boundary block.
Background Art
Generally, roadways in an apartment area, as shown in Fig. 6, are divided into walkways 110, paved with a plurality of paving blocks, on which people walk, and a roadway 120, paved with asphalt-concrete or the like, on which vehicles travel.
Between the walkways and the roadways, rectangular boundary blocks 100 manufactured by curing concrete are continuously and repeatedly installed.
As such, people walk on the walkways in safety, and vehicles freely travel on the roadways.
However, since, even in very short time, in particular in the morning and evening when people go to their offices or come back to their home, a considerable number of vehicles travel on the roadways in the apartment area, weak or loud noise is generated. But there is no device for reducing the noise on the walkways in the apartment area.
Moreover, when stopping or parking a vehicle beside the walkways, since tires of the vehicle collide with the boundary blocks or bumpers of the vehicle collide with or climb on the boundary blocks, the tires or the bumpers may be damaged.
Disclosure of the Invention
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a boundary block for reducing noise generated by vehicles traveling on roadways in an apartment area and for buffering shock when vehicles collide with the boundary block.
In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, the above and other objects can be accomplished by the provision of a boundary block installed between a walkway and a roadway in an apartment area, including an insertion recess formed at the front side of the boundary block, extending from one side to the other side of the boundary block, and gradually narrower from the front side to the rear side of the boundary block, and a sound-absorbing member having a shape corresponding to the insertion recess, an open front side, and a sound-absorbing part with a plurality of honeycomb-shaped recesses, formed in the inner surface of the sound-absorbing part, for canceling noise generated by vehicles traveling on the roadway, wherein the sound-absorbing member is inserted into the insertion recess such that the end of the sound-absorbing member is protruded over the front side of the boundary block when the sound absorbing-member is inserted into the insertion recess. Preferably, the sound-absorbing member is integrated with a cover extended from the upper and lower sides of the sound-absorbing member and covering the front side of the boundary block.
The upper and lower sides of the boundary block respectively have penetrating holes communicated with a sewer pipe, which is embedded under ground, via a conventional communicating pipe.

Best Mode
Hereinafter, the preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings . Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view schematically illustrating main parts of a boundary block according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, Fig. 2 is a schematic sectional view illustrating the installation of the boundary block according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention shown in Fig. 1 between a walkway and a roadway, and Fig. 3 is a schematic perspective view illustrating main parts of the installation of the boundary block according to the present invention shown in Fig. 1 between a walkway and a roadway.
As described in the drawings, a boundary block 100 according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention is installed between a walkway 110 and a roadway 120 which are provided in the apartment area so as to divide the walkway 110 on which people walk and the roadway 120 on which vehicles travel. The boundary block 100, in order to partially reduce noise generated by vehicles traveling on the roadway 120 and to prevent tires and bumpers of vehicles from being damaged by friction between the tires and/or the bumpers and the boundary block 100 when stopping or parking vehicles beside the boundary block 100, includes an insertion recess 10 formed at the front side of the boundary block 100, extending from one side to the other side of the boundary block 100, and gradually narrower from the front side to the rear side of the boundary block 100, and a sound-absorbing member 20 having a shape corresponding to the insertion recess 10, an open front side, and a sound- absorbing part 24 with a plurality of honeycomb-shaped recesses 22, formed in the inner surface of the sound- absorbing part 24, for canceling noise generated by vehicles traveling on the roadway, wherein the sound-absorbing member 20 is inserted into the insertion recess 10 such that the end of the sound-absorbing member 20 is protruded over the front side of the boundary block 100 when the sound absorbing-member 20 is inserted into the insertion recess 10.
Here, the sound-absorbing member 20, inserted into the insertion recess 10, is press-fitted into the insertion recess 10, or, if necessary, is fixed to the boundary block 100 by conventional bolts, and is preferably made of a material with excellent sound cancellation performance such as wood, plaster, fiber, asbestos, or the like.
By means of the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 3, noise generated by vehicles traveling on the roadway in the apartment area enters the sound-absorbing part 24 and is canceled by the honeycomb-shaped recesses 22 formed in the inner surface of the sound-absorbing part 24.
Since the end of the sound-absorbing member 20 protrudes over the front side of the boundary block 100, the sound-absorbing member 20 prevents the tires or the bumpers of a vehicle from being damaged by buffering shock generated by the collision of the tires or the bumpers with the boundary block 100 when stopping or parking the vehicle beside the boundary block 100. Therefore, since the sound-absorbing member 20 of the boundary block 100 reduces a part of noise generated by vehicles traveling on the roadway in the apartment area, noise pollution can be decreased and vehicles can be safely stopped or parked beside the walkway without vehicle damage. Fig. 4 is a schematic side sectional view illustrating a boundary block according to another embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in the drawing, in order to provide more strong buffering effect to the boundary block 100 when stopping or parking vehicles beside the walkway, the sound- absorbing member 20 is integrated with a cover 20a extended from the upper and lower sides of the sound-absorbing member 20 and covering the front side of the boundary block 100.
As such, since the boundary block 100 can exhibit stronger buffering effect, due to the cover 20a covering the front side of the boundary block 100, when stopping or parking vehicles beside the walkway, damage of the tires or the bumpers of vehicles can be minimized and vehicles can be safely stopped or parked beside walkways. Fig. 5 is a schematic side sectional view illustrating a boundary block according to still another embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in the drawing, in order to effectively remove noise entering the sound-absorbing recesses 24 of the sound-absorbing member 20, the upper and lower sides of the boundary block 100 respectively have penetrating holes 30 and 30a communicated with a sewer pipe, which is embedded under ground, via a conventional communicating pipe 32.
As such, noise enters the honeycomb-shaped sound- absorbing recesses 24 of the sound-absorbing member 20, is partially canceled by the sound-absorbing recesses 24, and the rest of the noise is exhausted into the sewer pipe embedded under the ground via the penetrating holes 30 and 30a and the communicating pipe 32, so that noise entering the sound-absorbing recesses 24 is completely canceled.
Moreover, the exhausting passage, formed by the penetrating holes 30 and 30a, the communicating pipe 32, and the sewer pipe, facilitates an auxiliary role of draining rainwater in a case that drains disposed at the sides of the roadway are closed for a hard rain or a localized torrential downpour.
Industrial Applicability
As described above, according to the present invention, since the boundary block is installed between and divides a walkway and a roadway in the apartment area and includes the sound-absorbing device, noise generated by vehicles traveling on the roadway can be reduced. Moreover, the boundary block of the present invention buffers shock generated when stopping or parking vehicles beside the walkway and prevents the vehicles from being damaged. Thus, the noise pollution generated from the roadway can be partially decreased, and the vehicles can be prevented from damage and stopped or parked beside the walkway in safety.
Moreover, the front side of the boundary block contacting vehicles when stopping or parking beside the walkway is covered with the cover, so that the boundary block exhibits more efficient buffering effects, so as to prevent the vehicles from being damaged, and allows safe stopping and parking.
Further, noise entering the sound-absorbing recesses is exhausted into the sewer pipe embedded under the ground, so that the noise can be completely removed and a large volume of rainwater, generated due to heavy rain or a localized torrential downpour, can be easily drained.
Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims .
