Abstract

A monomer, a mixture of monomer and the resultant crosslinked polymer formed by polymerization of a material with the general molecular structure: B-S-A-S-B, wherein B is a crosslinking group, S is a flexible spacer and A is an aromatic molecular core with the general formula: -Ar-(M-Ar)n-; wherein each Ar is independently an aromatic or heteroaromatic diradical, or a single bond, and wherein each M is independently selected from certain materials, and wherein n = 1 to 10, wherein R are alkyl groups, and wherein diradicals contained in aromatic molecular core A are connected together in a substantially linear fashion is disclosed.
