Abstract

Generally waste containers (1, 8) have a boring look with colours like dark grey to green and therefore stick out like a sore thumb against the buildings, because mostly the waste containers (1, 8) stand outside against the walls to throw in waste, that's why an embellishion or decoration of the raised sides with a exchangeable cover (3, 7) is pleasant for many users to express advertisement, events, holidays, important games and such in their direct neighbourhood, in which the covers (3, 7) are slided from bottom to top onto the raised edges of the waste container, through which in a surprisingly inventive way a different looking waste container (1, 8) is created.

Description

DECORATIVE COVER FOR WASTE CONTAINERS
The present invention relates to a cover for externally embellishing waste containers, which usually are frequently put onto the street, such as, for example, containers and more specifically roller containers of different dimensions for various use for, for example, domestic waste, organic waste, paper, batteries and such, which are usually constructed of plastic, in which the container is tapered from bottom to top, in which the colour combination is simply neutral and as inconspicuous as possible.
A cover for a waste container is known from the American Patent document US 6 341 713 Bl, submitted on August 7th, 2000 from the inventor Thomas K. KILMER, Souderton, PA, USA. Here, it concerns a covering composition of flexible material for waste containers and such. The lid has a separate covering part constructed as a cover sheet which is fixed with an elastic band underneath the lid. The vertical sides of the waste container are enclosed with a decorative sheet which is fixed with hooks or such at the back, with especially at the front the required current graphic design with the actual colours, such as "Welcome", "Kids Zone", "Merry Christmas", and such. Said covering thereof around the vertical sides is made of an elongated waterproof coated material, in which the colours initially match both house and landscape. Aforementioned waterproof coating is, for example, urethane. The vertical cover is actually an apxon, which, when emptying the waste container, must be removed for the cover obstructs the grippers of the garbage truck. Also the cover of the lid must be temporarily removed then. The weekly removal of the slack cover in order to empty the container is not convenient for the user. Therefore its use will soon loose interest. Further, the colour combination of the common waste containers is rather neutral, such as dark grey, green and such, which usually do not match the colour of the house fronts and the user generally wants to express certain events of sports or holidays on his container without having to remove its cover weekly. Further, applying a cover on the lid must be avoided,
The aforementioned shows, that the known covers have disadvantages and especially with regard to applying and fixing it as a loose sheet with many connection and fastening points to the container.
It is the aim of the present invention to supply such a modified and improved decorative cover for a waste container, of which the aforementioned disadvantages are solved and which cover can be put onto the market in an economic responsible way.
For this, a cover for embellishing waste containers according to the invention is further developed and/or modified in a very inventive way, characterized in that, the said covers have from bottom to top the shape of the tapered outer circumference of the containers and are made of an elastic material or a material provided with elastic bands or strips or other retaining means, which covers are slidable from bottom to top in one piece over the raised sides of the waste container, in which on said material of the cover various colour combinations, images, logo's, advertisements and such can be applied.
The advantage is, that the cover can be applied quickly and directly against the outer circumference of the raised sides of the waste container, in which said cover can remain when emptied and that the cover always stays tightly around the container as if it is "custom made".
Further, the cover according to the invention is further developed in such a way, that at the top side said cover is provided with a Velcro strip and at the top side of the container, a Velcro counter strip is stuck.
The advantage is, that the cover remains even more tightly around the waste container and therefore always looks stretched.
Furthermore, the cover according to the invention is further developed in such a way, , that said elastic material is a laminated water-repellent plastic cloth.
The advantage is that the cover is not affected by weather influences and always remains stretched.
Furthermore, the cover according to the invention is further developed in such a way, that said cover can contain occasional colours and images, such as, for example, sport events like football games, races (Zandvoort, TT Assen) and such.
The advantage is that people or users of the waste containers sympathise more with certain events and with that, make the (street) scene more enjoyable and attractive.
The preferred construction of the invention will be described by way of example, and with reference to the accompanying drawing.
In which: Fig. 1 shows a view in oblique projection of a 240 litre roller container provided with a cover according to a preferred embodiment of the invention; and
Fig. 2 ditto, but now a 120 litre roller container.
Figure 1 shows a view in oblique projection of a waste container 1 of 240 litres. The waste container 1 is constructed as a roller container with wheels 2. On the raised sides, which are slightly conical from bottom to top, an exchangeable cover 3 with a Coca-Cola advertisement text is shown. The lid 4 is left in its original state, as shown in figure 1, The owner's house number 5 is shown on the side. In this case, the colour white of the cover 3 can be red. For example, the cover 3 can be fixed onto the top of the waste container with Velcro strips 6.
In figure 2 is shown in the same way a cover 7 on the waste container 8 of 120 litres. The advertisement on the cover 7 concerns an important football game, hence the text with the football 9. The waste container 9 is also constructed as a roller container with wheels 10. In this case the colour white of the cover is obviously orange. Said covers 3 and 7, which consist of one piece can be pulled over the roller container from the bottom to the top due to the very elasticity of the material used. Normally, the circumference of the wheels 2 and 10 can remain fixed during the above described handling and are obviously left open in the covers 3 and 7. The covers 3 and 7 are only fixed at the front side with, a Velcro strip 6 for a further good attachment of said covers- There is no cover on the lid 4 of the waste container, so that for the personnel of the garbage collection service it stays clear that the correct v/aste container is emptied. By means of the additionally supplied house numbers 5, which can be applied on the cover (3, 7), recognising the container will be a lot easier. Due to said elastic material of the covers 3 and 7, the top and bottom circumference of the common waste container may vary + or -5 cm. Further, colours, logo's, advertisement texts and such on the covers 3 and 7 can be customised for each event, which can be given to the supplier via an electronic file.
Finally it has to be emphasized, that the above description constitutes preferred embodiments of the invention and that naturally further modifications and such are possible without departing the scope of this patent description.
