Abstract
A microcarrier bead having a porous three-dimensional core having at least 99% interconnected pores and an outer protective layer for growing cells in a bioreactor using higher sparging rates than cells would ordinary withstand. A method of making an artificial scaffold wherein a scaffolding material is extruded into a coolant and thereby creating a porous material.
