Abstract

Multifunction personal communication devices and associated systems and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, a personal communication device comprises a handheld computing device and a housing configured to receive and releasably carry the handheld computing device. The housing can include a visual display panel configured to display information to a user and a keypad configured to receive input from the user. The housing can also include one or more geometrically-shaped keys programmed to perform preset functions upon activation and a microphone positioned to receive voice input from the user. The housing can further include integrated circuitry electrically coupled to the handheld computing device and one or more components of the housing and a power supply configured to provide power to both the housing and the handheld computing device.
