Abstract

One embodiment provides a method to purge air from a pressurizing unit that is used in a powered fluid injection system. In this embodiment, the method includes moving a drive mechanism in a forward direction to an extended position within a pressurizing unit, retracting the drive mechanism in a rearward direction to partially fill the pressurizing unit with a first quantity of medical fluid, moving the drive mechanism in the forward direction to remove air from the pressurizing unit, and retracting the drive mechanism in the rearward direction to fill the pressurizing unit with a second quantity of fluid, the second quantity of fluid being greater than the first quantity of fluid.
