Description
CHAPS
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates generally to clothing. More particularly, the present invention relates to chaps.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Chaps are worn over trousers to protect an individual's (e.g., a cowboy's) legs. Commonly, chaps are made of leather and do not include a seat. Chaps are offered in a variety of designs. Currently, a chaps wearer needs to own several chaps if he or she desires to have multiple designs on the chaps.
[0003] In view of the foregoing, it would be desirable to facilitate the inclusion of multiple chaps designs in one pair of chaps.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The invention includes a chap with a chap leg and an interface surface formed on the chap leg to receive a removable chap design strip.
[0005] The invention also includes a kit with a chap leg and a removable chap design strip attachable to the chap leg.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS [0006] For a better understanding of the nature and objects of the invention, reference should be made to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:
[0007] FIG. 1 is a side view of a chap and removable chap design strips configured in accordance with an embodiment of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0008] FIG. 1 is a side view of a chap 100 configured in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. In one embodiment, the chap 100 includes a placket 102 that
runs along the side of the chap 100. In general, a placket is a slit that facilitates the removal and fitting of clothing. The placket 102 may be implemented with a zipper.
[0009] Positioned adjacent to the placket 102 is an interface surface 104. The interface surface 104 may be a fastener (e.g., button, snap, and the like) or a temporary bonding agent (e.g., Velcro). The interface surface 104 is configured to receive a removable chap design strip 106. The removable chap design strip 106 may cover the placket 102.
[0010] The removable chap design strip 106 may come in any number of configurations. For example, the removable chap design strip 106 may be the same color or a different color than the chaps. In addition, various removable chap design strips may be configured, including: a rhinestone design 106A, a bead design 106B, a weave design 106C, and a fringe design 106D.
[0011] The removable chap design strip in conjunction with the chap enables the user to easily modify the design of the chap. A new design may be chosen by the user simply by exchanging one removable chap design strip with another. In this way, multiple chaps are not required to accommodate different chap designs.
[0012] The apparatus of the invention may be sold as a chap leg with an interface to receive a removable chap design strip. Removable chap design strips may then be sold separately. Alternately, the apparatus of the invention may be sold as a chap kit including at least one chap leg and at least one removable chap design strip attachable to the chap leg.
[0013] While the present invention has been described with reference to the specific embodiments thereof, it should be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes may be made and equivalents may be substituted without departing from the true spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims. In addition, many modifications may be made to adapt a particular situation, material, composition of matter, method, process step or steps, to the objective, spirit and scope of the present invention. All such modifications are intended to be within the scope of the claims appended hereto.
