Abstract

A device for heating a surrounding body to a set temperature comprising a heating element (3), at least one insulating element (4) and a thermostat (5), where the heating element (3), the at least one insulating element (4) and the thermostat (5) is mounted inside a common house (1).

Description

Device for heating a surrounding body to a set temperature
The present invention is related to a device for heating a surrounding body to a set temperature, more specific to a heating element with its own thermostat switch.
It is often the need for an element to heat up another element/body to a given temperature and then keep it at this temperature. Normally this will be done by a heating element and a temperature sensor connected to the body being heated up. An example of this can be found in the international patent application
PCT/NO2005/00286.
However, in the above international application, the body to be heated is small and to remove the necessary material from the body to be able to fasten the heating element and temperature element, is undesirable and it creates extra work and thus increase the cost.
The aim for present invention is to reduce the necessary work needed to install a heating element with a temperature element/switch. This is achieved with the device according to the present invention as defined by the features stated in the claims.
The invention will be described in more detail with reference to the drawing which discloses a cross section of one embodiment of the invention.
The combined heating device 10 can be seen in figure 1 and consist of a house 1 with a removable cap 2 at one end of the house and closed at the other end. Inside the house are three main elements, a heating element 3, at least one insulation element(s) 4 and a thermostat switch 5. The wall of the housing 1 should be as thin as possible to be able to transfer heat easily from and to the elements inside the house, but as little as possible along the house to reduce erroneous measurement by the thermostat 5 inside the house.
The invention will work on the following principle: power is transferred through the thermostat switch 5 to the heating element 3 to warm up the body surrounding the house 1; the at least one insulating element 4 will prevent heat from the heating element 3 reaching the thermostat 5; and the thermostat will be set to a given temperature span, say 70-75 deg C to turn the heating element on or off, and will sense the heat from the surrounding body to the house rather than from the heating element.
To place the heating device 10 into a body it will be drilled a hole into the body which will have threads near the opening. Threads on the outside of the lid will be used to fasten the heating device 10 in the drilled hole. Leads/cables from the thermostat/heating element will pass through the lid in a small hole to be connected to a power source not shown.
