Abstract
Composition and process to obtain mass for profile extrusion and covering, designed to obtain a compound which, added to compression extrusion, provides in a practical and quick way to obtain perfect covering of profiles of wood or similar material, besides reducing handwork time and cost, characterized by being constituted by water dispersion vinyl resin (between 20 and 30%), calcium carbonate (between 65 and 75%) and tonifying paste (between 0 and 5%), which mixture of said materials or substitute materials should be effected under low shaking speed (maximum 500 rpm) so that the temperature may not exceed 50 0C and the product homogenization takes maximum 45 minutes, being said compound as now prepared used with a compression extruder machine, thus causing the penetration of the obtained mass through all pores and imperfections of profiles of wood or similar material, aiming to cover said imperfections with a reduced number of passes and distribute it through the whole surface, granting it perfection and a more resistant perfect finishing.
Description
"COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING"
The present description refers to an application for Privilege of Invention for a new and revolutionary "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING", which purpose is to obtain, by means of a new compound, a specific mass which, when applied to a production process, provides for the covering of profiles made of wood or a similar material, so to perfectly fill in pores or imperfections, also increasing resistance and improving results at the end of the covering process, being a specifically developed product which is applied by means of an also specific process to immediately obtain general profiles and frames of wood or similar material with precise and perfect finishing, and this whole set has been developed, despite the numerous tests and studies, in a practical and very simplified way, being thus able to meet the current requirements and demands.
Water-based gypsum is currently known from the state of the art and has been used in the covering process for wood frames for pictures.
This product is applied by means of a special application machine called extruder.
In that machine, frames are continually moved through a chamber full of gypsum which passes through a hole with similar shape to the frame profile, so to receive covering from that gypsum.
The object of this operation is to apply enough
product to fill in wood pores and prepare the frame for the following covering steps.
A similar procedure is sometimes used in shaped items which could be related to profile frames, such as skirts and general profiles.
Although this process is relatively cheap and quick and may be conducted with full automation by means of said extruding machine, there are still a few limitations in currently available systems in the market which need better covering products and processes.
These limitations may be summarized as follows:
So to better fill in wooden pores, various passages through the extruding machine should be conducted (usually not less than six passages). This means that, despite the sole passage being very quick, it is not very work-intensive, thus making the process take longer.
In certain species of wood, it is difficult to fill in pores and also, after various passages, the preparation of profile frames is still insufficient. This means that, despite the sole passage being very quick and not too work-intensive, the complete process takes much longer due to the required number of passages to obtain reasonable quality finishing.
The chemical resistance of said gypsums is not satisfactory and, therefore, the final result of the full covering process is not so remarkable.
Various alternative processes have been developed by users, in an attempt to overcome such specific problems, all of
which are widely used in the state of the art, despite being equally poor.
To solve such inconveniences in a practical and economical way, after wide research and results from various and repeated studies, the inventor, who is an interested person in the field, created and developed the object of the present patent, aiming to provide a technically correct and functional solution .which is, generally and in short summary, the "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILIE EXTRUSION AND COVERING", object of the present invention, essentially consisting in the development of a new water-based mass, also similar to gypsum, but enabling to overcome all the above mentioned limitations, reducing the quantity of passages to maximum three, by considerably increasing filling capacity, so to reach a good result in any kind of wood species, no matter the depth of the pores, the density of wood or even its imperfections.
Another object of the present invention is to improve the resistance to substances and, in general, technical properties of the covering film, so to improve the final result of the covering process.
The present Patent of Invention, "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING", has been developed with the purpose to reach the above mentioned objects and offer large reliability, thus aiming to obtain an excellent final result, truly innovative and with high performance, providing large improvements, being promoted and personalized for being a composition and process which is fully
distinct from the state of the art.
The "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING" as proposed herewith constitutes a compound which purpose is to obtain a new gypsum-like mass but with specific formulation, as detailed below:
• Vinyl resin (water dispersion) 20 - 30 %
• Calcium carbonate 65 - 75 %
• Tonifying paste 0 - 5 % As for the vinyl resin, in principle all kinds of saturated vinyl resins are appropriate. Modified vinyl resins may also be used, such as: types modified with polyvinyl alcohol, with styrene or VeoVa and all their combinations.
Concerning calcium carbonate, only types with specific particle size distribution are appropriate to prepare this specific product. Typical properties are as follows:
- Average particle size (microns): between 6 and 12
- Oil absorption (g oil/100 g carbonate): between 12 and 20 An appropriate tonifying paste for use may be any commercial type, as long as fully water-dispersible and compatible. Those types with low quantity of added glycols should be used.
Mixing procedures should be conducted under relatively low shaking speed (maximum 500 rpm), taking care for the temperature not to exceed 50 0C during the mixing process.
Mixing should be conducted for no longer than 45 minutes.
In principle, any kind of commercial mixer allowing to obtain and maintain the above values may be used.
The real critical point to obtain a good result is the mixing procedure, which should be conducted so to homogenize and not disperse the product. The mixing machine may be shaped so to enable mixing to occur under low rpm, with no remarkable temperature increase.
Furthermore, components perform an important role but, in principle, similar results may be obtained with different components, as follows:
- Instead of solely using calcium carbonate, it may be possible to work with a mixture of calcium carbonate and a different extender (such as talc, mica, barium sulfate, etc.).
- Instead of using vinyl resin, a possible formulation may be prepared by using acrylic resin or a mixture of acrylic and vinyl resin.
This whole compound as now prepared should be used in an extruding machine, so to distribute it throughout the profile surface, aiming to cover each and any porosities or imperfections of the wood or similar material.
This extruding machine as recommended is a machine to make extrusion over compression, so to enable the used mass to penetrate all possible pores and imperfections in the profiles, so to not only cover but also fully fill them in, so that they can no longer be seen and identified, thus providing perfect finishing to the work.
When we manually soothe a wood part so to cover its failures, we usually employ a spatula not only to spread out the
mass, but also to promote some compression for it to penetrate and fill in failures.
The extruding machine will make so by compression, i. e. the profile will pass through a chamber containing the mass, a compound as claimed herewith, under pressure, which will exit through compatible holes, which will define which shape the profile will be, i. e. even and with no failures.
The present description disclosed a new conception of a "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING", presenting, as we can show, numerous advantages as a function of the differences over existing conventional methods in use, besides constructive and functional technical characteristics which are fully new before the state of the art. Having therefore disclosed and shown the better way of embodiment as currently contemplated to embody the present invention, numerous modifications and variations in its way of embodiment may be promptly introduced by the experts in the art, such as the change or substitution of a few components as mentioned.
It should be understood, however, that the present invention is not limited to the practical aspects of the currently preferred embodiment as shown and disclosed, and that all such modifications and variations should be considered as being covered by the spirit and scope of the invention.
For the advantages offered and for having truly innovative technical characteristics, they fulfill all originality and
novelty requirements in the field, thus assembling the required conditions to deserve a Privilege of Invention.
Claims
CUVIMS "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING", characterized by being a mass constituted by water dispersion vinyl resin (between 20 and 30%), calcium carbonate (between 65 and 75%) and tonifying paste between 0 and 5%), which mixture of said or substitute materials should be effected under low shaking speed (maximum 500 rpm) for the temperature not to exceed 50 0C and to take no longer than 45 minutes to obtain an even and non dispersed mass. "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING" of claim 1, characterized by being a mass constituted by vinyl resin, being appropriate all types of saturated vinyl resins, as well as those modified with polyvinyl alcohol, styrene or VeoVa and all their combinations and it may be substituted by acrylic resin or a mixture of acrylic and vinyl resin. "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING" of claim 1, characterized by being a mass constituted by calcium carbonate, but only those with specific particle size distribution (microns) between 6 and 12 and oil absorption between 12 and 20 g oil/100 g carbonate, besides also being worked with different extruders, such as: talc, mica, barium sulfate and others. "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING" of claim 1, characterized by being a mass constituted by any tonifying
paste, as long as fully water dispersible and compatible, with low quantity of added glycols. "COMPOSITION AND PROCESS TO OBTAIN MASS FOR PROFILE EXTRUSION AND COVERING" of claim 1, characterized by being a mass basically constituted by vinyl resin, calcium carbonate and tonifying paste, or appropriately substitute materials which, when mixed so to obtain perfect homogenization and not dispersing the product, will reach a compound to be used next to an extruder machine under compression, making the profile of wood or similar material to pass through a chamber containing said mass under pressure, and said profile will exit through compatible holes to the shape of its profile, thus causing the penetration of the mass through all pores and imperfections of profiles of wood or similar material, aiming to cover said imperfections with a reduced number of passes and distribute it through the whole surface, granting it perfection and a more resistant perfect finishing, besides saving time and material.
