Description
LAMP
The present invention refers to a lamp.
As known, in the field of illumination, a trend is getting widespread use, that provides for equipping lamps, ' chandlers or luminous diffusers with such design and functionality as to free them from their roles of simple utility objects in order to elevate them to roles of actual furniture complements, if not even with objects provided with arts values.
In particular, such trend provides a field that makes chandlers, lamps or luminous diffusers with such technical characteristics as to confer to the emitted light individual and particular shapes, tones and effects. In the majority of cases, obtaining a certain arrangement of lights requires the use of particular technologies and the realisation of "ad-hoc" handicrafts, often associated with the need or the desire to employ an external design with a clear and evocative ethnic matrix.
Object of the present invention is -providing a lamp that allows emitting new and original light shapes with respect to what has been proposed by the prior art.
The above and other objects and advantages of the invention, as will result from the following description, are reached with a lamp like the one described in claim 1. Preferred embodiments and non-trivial variations of the present invention are the subject matter of the dependent claims .
It will be immediately obvious that numerous variations and modifications (for example related to shape, sizes, arrangements and parts with equivalent functionality) can be made to the described lamp, without departing from the scope of the invention as appears from the enclosed claims.
The present invention will be better described by some preferred embodiments thereof, provided as a non- limiting example, with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 shows a top perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the lamp according to the present invention;
FIG. 2a shows a longitudinal sectional view of the lamp according to the section plane A-A in FIG. 1;
FIG. 2b shows a transverse sectional view of the lamp according to the section plane B-B in FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 shows a sectional view of a component of the lamp according to the present invention; and
FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of a component of the lamp according to the present invention.
With reference to the Figures, it is possible to note that the lamp 1 according to the present invention is composed of a transparent or semi-transparent luminous diffuser 3, to which at least one luminous source 7 is associated, contained inside at least one external shell 5, such luminous source 7 being adapted to project luminous fluxes towards the luminous diffuser 3 so that the fluxes cross and are refracted by this latter one.
In particular, the luminous diffuser 3 is provided with an egg shape: preferably, as can be noted from FIG. 2a, the longitudinal section of the luminous diffuser 3 has a substantially elliptical shape while, as can be noted in FIG. 2b, the cross section of the luminous diffuser 3 has a substantially circular shape. Still more preferably, the length L of the luminous' diffuser 3 ranges between 85 mm and 350 mm, while its diameter D ranges between 45 mm and 160 mm.
The luminous diffuser 3 could be produced in any transparent or semi-transparent material, and be shaped in order to be filled-up or equipped with an internal recess, and/or be in a single piece or be the result of the assembling of many different parts. Preferably, the luminous diffuser 3 is filled-up and produced in a single
piece in pure transparent glass. As described and shown, the luminous diffuser 3, in addition to its own intrinsic technical functions, also assumes an ornamental character that confers to the lamp 1 according to the present invention a clear ethnic matrix: in particular, the luminous diffuser 3 of the lamp according to the present invention reminds the shape of a sacred Buddhist symbol like the Indian Lingham, a stone with a particular elliptical shape obtained from the Gange river erosion.
The luminous source 7 can obviously be made through any known technology adapted for the purpose of the present invention. In particular, in a preferred embodiment thereof, the luminous source 7 is preferably at least one LED diode, and still more preferably a LED diode emitting a white-coloured luminous flux. In particular, the Applicant has detected how the LED diodes that are currently the most suitable ones to compose the luminous source 7 of the lamp 1 according to the present invention are the LED diodes called OSTAR® manufactured by Company OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH (in particular, the LED diodes of the LE CW E2A-KZMZ-L3M5, LE CW E2A- KZMZ-N3P5, LE CW E2A-KZMZ-H3K5 or LE CW E2A-KZMZ-Q3R5 types), the LED diodes called XLamp®, XR-E type, manufactured by Company CREE Inc., and the LED diodes called GOLDEN DRAGON® manufactured by Company Opto
Semiconductors GmbH (in particular, the LED diodes of the LW W5SM-HYJY-5K8L, LW W5SM-HYHZ-5K8L or LW W5SM-JXJY-5K8L types). It is wholly evident that such indication is only an example and in no way is a limitation about the types of luminous sources 7, and possibly LED diodes, that can be used within the present invention.
The external shell 5 containing the luminous source 7 is secured to the luminous diffuser 3, for example by gluing, in order to allow the luminous fluxes emitted by the luminous source 7 to be constrained to cross the luminous diffuser 3 and consequently be refracted by this latter one towards the external environment. In particular, the external shell 5 is made of amorphous, preferably metallic, material, and equipped with at least one internal recess adapted to house and in which the luminous source 7 has to be secured. As shown in the Figures, the external shell is preferably a vessel substantially shaped as a parallelepiped, having an internal surface 5c on which the base 7a of the luminous source 7 has to be secured. The external shell 5 is then equipped with side edges 5a, 5b provided with suitable bendings adapted to copy the external shape of the portion of external diffuser 3 on which it is applied.
Obviously, the same external shell 5 could house inside it more that one luminous source 7, for example
emitting luminous beams of mutually different colours . It is as well clear that on the same diffuser 3, more that one external shell 5 could be applied, each one of which contains at least one luminous source 7.
The lamp 1 according to the present invention is then obviously equipped with electric supplying and controlling means for the luminous source 7, that can be produced with any known mode suitable for such purpose. Such supplying and controlling means can comprise at least one supply battery to be placed, for example, inside the external shell 5, or a supply cable that is known or made as a braid of copper and silver threads. The supplying and controlling means can further comprise at least one external turning-on and -off switch (not shown) and, possibly a potentiometer (not shown) , to be arranged on the external shell 5 or along the supply cable .
