Abstract

Disclosed is an organic EL device having high luminous efficiency and long emission life. Also disclosed are an illuminating device and a display device, each comprising such an organic EL device. Specifically disclosed is an organic EL device having a light-emitting layer interposed between an anode and a cathode, which is characterized in that the light-emitting layer contains at least one phosphorescent dopant having a molecular weight of not less than 1,000 but not more than 10,000 and at least one host compound having a molecular weight of not less than 500 but not more than 5,000.
