Abstract

The invention relates to a foamed body composed of thermoplastic polyesters with high homogeneity, low open-cell factor and high elongation at break under shear stress, wherein the polyester foam contains, based on the weight of the foamed body, from 0.1 to 20 wt% of nanoparticles selected from the series of carbon nanotubes and nanoclays, and at least one thermoplastic elastomer, such as a thermoplastic copolyester elastomer. The foamed bodies can be obtained by foaming a polyester of low intrinsic viscosity in a mixture with nanoparticles, thermoplastic copolyester elastomers and dianhydrides of tetracarboxylic acids. At least the thermoplastic copolyester elastomers and the dianhydrides of tetracarboxylic acids form a master batch which is admixed with the polyester. The nanoparticles can be added to the polyester, to the master batch or to both.
