Description

Name of Invention : Innovative Anti-Leak Non-Dirtying Nappy
The Technology of Traditional Nappies (Diapers) Already In Use Prior To Our Invention :
A. Baby Nappies: The Baby nappy is a common snicker-like towel, worn by babies in order to cover and confine penis (for male babies), vulva (for female babies) and anus. It is made up of Non- Woven fabric mantle which includes a quantity of cellulose whose function is to contain and isolate excrement, whereas a certain amount of superabsorbent polymer [Sodium Poly Acrylite] particles would absorb urine after it passes through the Non- Woven fabric and settles in the cellulose content that contains the absorbing substance.
B. Women Towels: The towel for women comprises a thin layer of " Air Laid " that includes superabsorbent polymer particles (powder) whose function is to absorb vulval excretion, some of which remains almost stuck on the outer surface of towel.
• The towels designed as such are vulnerable to out flow of urine, menstrual blood or liquid excrement, which may results in spreading of unpleasant smell .
• The leakage of urine, excrement or menstrual blood to outer surface of the towel would stain and dirty a considerable part of skin even if the leaking has originated within the part of skin in touch with the towel.
It is troublesome and disagreeable for women and mothers to clean the skin in cold winter time, when preparing hot water for this purpose would be necessary.
• Our innovated design with its new specifications can make this new towel capable of solving such problem.
Towel design and specifications are given below.
Technical Specifications of The Innovated Towels (Nappies):
The name of the invention is " Innovative Anti-Leak Non-Dirtying Nappy ".
The materials making up the innovated towels are as follows:
1- Non-Woven Fabric: Although it is very much like very thin textile, it is made of natural substance and, technically, not woven.
The fabric is prepared by applying pressure as well as heating and chemical processes.
2- Superabsorbent Polymer [Sodium Poly Acrylite]: It is made up of powder that looks like sugar particles. It can absorb 100 times its weight of water. After absorption, it swells and becomes like jelly. And absorbed liquid would not flow out of it even if it is subjected to pressure.
3- Non- Woven Elastic Medical Adhesive Tape: It is produced by " Johnson Health Care " Company. It is elastic and convenient (body fit) even for sensitive skin. It leaves no traces after removing it off skin. It takes the shape of any part of skin to which it is stuck and does not impede any movement of the skin. It allows air and sweat to pass through. It is wholly made of natural components including the adhesive substance and the threads that make up the fabric of the tape. However, the threads are not woven. They are pressed together in away that forms a very thin fabric with veiy small pores . It is quite different from traditional medical plaster commonly used for wounds. It is advisable to use this new untraditional tape (ribbon) which has been proved to be good and safe for wounds and sensitive skin regardless how long it is applied. Compared with traditional towel (nappy), the new innovated nappy is better because it feels like cotton underwear. This particular characteristic of the tape (ribbon), used on our innovated nappy, makes it distinguished and exceptional. In addition, it has better ventilation condition than any other traditional towel because it is made of the same substance as the Non- Woven fabric that covers the towel, whereas the common nappies are airproof and lack ventilation.
However, this unique tape is innovated by the experts of " Johnson & Johnson ", the world wide known company.
The newly innovated technique of how to take off the above- mentioned adhesive tape gently, will be presented later (below).
- Thin Poly Ethylene Plastic Sheets.
- Silicone Paper: It is used to isolate and protect the adhesive surfaces of the towel (nappy). It can be easily removed without spoiling the adhesive material.
- " Air Laid " Stuff: it is a rather thin piece of cellulose fabric (as thick as a couple of folded tissues), through which the superabsorbent particles (powder) are pressed and integrated. - Cellulose Stuff: It is a natural substance with cotton-like fabric. It is used to secure a suitable distribution of the absorbing particles [Sodium Poly Acrylite] all over the fabric in a way that corresponds properly with the speed required for the absorption of discharged urine. The whole body of the cellulose stuff is covered with Non-Woven fabric.
Explanation About The Invention:
The invention is basically a pharmaceutical product. It has four forms (types) which can be used for the following puiposes:
1- An Adhesive Universal Baby Nappy (Diaper): to be used as an excrement towel for babies.
2- An Adhesive Baby Nappy: to be used as a urination towel for " MALE " babies.
3- An Adhesive Baby Nappy: to be used as a urination towel for " FEMALE " babies.
4- An Adhesive " Menstrual " Towel: to be used by adult women, (see enclosed drawings).
1 - Adhesive Universal Baby Nappy (Diaper) For Excrement: (see fig 1) This type of nappies (towels) has a (6cm X 6cm) square-shaped (adhesive) sticker, with a circular hole (3.2cm diameter) in the center of the sticker sheet. The square sticker is attached, on the other side all around the hole, to a plastic bag which also has a similar hole (3.2cm diameter) that exactly superposes the hole of the sticker. The attachment frame around the hole, between the plastic bag and the sticker, is (1-2 mm) wide.
The plastic bag is covered, from the outside, with Non- Woven fabric to secure a smooth feeling in the skin.
• The (adhesive) sticker, when used, is stuck in a way that allows the anus of the baby to be just against the opening (hole) of the sticker. Then the medical adhesive tape is to be fitted and fixed properly on the skin.
• A piece of plastic covered with disinfecting Non- Woven fabric on both sides to keep mothers' fingers protected and clean, while cleaning the area around anus.
• Around the opening (hole) of the plastic bag which mantles the nappy, there is a string fitted through loops (nooses) fixed on the outer edge of hole. After the nappy is removed, the string can be pulled, so that it would close the opening of the plastic bag allowing no excrement to escape .
In the case of traditional nappies technology, excrement would flow out staining and making dirty a considerable area of skin around anus. And in some cases it may leak out of the nappy itself if the excrement is rather liquid, and whenever the baby moves.
Also, a bad smell and irritated skin are possible consequences of such inconvenience. But in the case of our innovation, the nappy is distinguished by having the excrement, once it is discharged from anus, go through the opening of the plastic bag where it is contained and isolated.
❖ Note: Additional four small adhesive ribbons can be fitted on the four corners of the bag/nappy to ensure better fixing on skin. - Adhesive Baby Nappy (Diaper) To Be Used As Urination Towel For M MALE " Babies: (see fig.2)
It is made up of a rectangular plastic bag (20cm X 10cm) mantled with Non-Woven fabric and inside of which there is " Air Laid " material that includes the superabsorbent substance [Sodium Poly Acrylite]. In the center of upper (square) half of one side of the plastic bag, there is a circular hole on the circumference of which an elastic nipple-like shape is fitted, (in the experimental model, a rubber nipple is used, see fig.3).
The bulge of the nipple is made with a number of small (front and side) holes, and it is coated all over the interior face of the nipple with a layer of Non-Woven fabric to create a smooth and gentle touching with baby's penis. On the outer circumferential edge of the nipple, where it is joined to the hole of the plastic bag, three (2.5cm 2-3mm) adhesive ribbons (the same as the type mentioned above) are fitted.
To use this nappy, the baby's penis is fitted into the cone of the rubber nipple so that the penis is situated into the cone. Then the three adhesive ribbons are fitted and fixed gently on the penis, after removing the silicone cover of the three adhesive ribbons.
When the baby urinates, in whatsoever condition, the urine will pass through the holes of the nipple into the plastic bag where it is absorbed by the absorbent material. The size of the rubber cone is made proportional to the size of the penis of any baby. When the baby urinates into the plastic bag, only a small spot, on top of the penis (about 1cm diameter) becomes dirty.
Also, there are two small medical adhesive ribbons (as mentioned above), on the two upper corners of the nappy, to be fixed on the skin of the belly (in addition to fixing the rubber cone about the baby's penis). Thus, no discomfort or tension, whatsoever, is caused to the baby's skin.
In the case of the traditional nappy technology, urine is liable to leak out during absorption and dirty an area which is not easy to clean. It may also leak out when a baby moves and unpleasant smell might spread. In addition, urine is likely to cause moderate or severe allergy to skin.
As for our invention, the nappy is distinguished by having urine contained inside the plastic bag, almost without contact with the skin. The only possible contact area between urine and skin is at the urination hole, which does not exceed a small circle whose diameter is 1cm only. - Adhesive Baby Nappy To Be Used As A Urination Towel For " FEMALE" Babies: (see fig .3)
It is made up of a rectangular (13cm X 9cm) piece of medical adhesive sticker (mentioned above), in the center of which there is a rectangular shaped opening (8cm X 4cm). The sticker is attached, on the other side all around the opening, to a rectangular plastic bag (20cm X 10cm) which also has a rectangular opening with the same dimensions in the middle. The two rectangular openings are exactly superposed with an attachment frame (1-2 mm) wide.
The plastic bag is covered, from the outside, with Non-Woven fabric.
• To use the nappy, the silicone paper that covers the elastic medical sticker (on the adhesive side) is removed in order to fix the frame of the sticker on the skin and fit it in a way that makes the vulva of the baby lies within the rectangular opening of the sticker. The frame of the sticker is made rather wide to secure good fixing.
Inside the plastic bag there is the Non-Wove fabric that contains Air Laid material which comprises superabsorbent substances.
During urination, urine gets in touch with the surface of the absorbent layer. If urine is excessive, it will flow within the plastic bags before it is absorbed by the absorbent material all along the bag leaving no traces of urine on the baby's skin except within the rectangular opening area that can be cleaned with a special cleaning towel enclosed with each nappy. The cleaning process can be carried out, quickly and easily, by wearing the cleaning towel like a glove so that there will be no need to wash hands. This type of nappy is produced in three different sizes (1-2-3) that vary in the dimensions of rectangular opening, plastic bag and (adhesive) sticker, so as to be suitable and convenient for different sizes of baby vulva (of the opening is of same area, or a little larger).
« In the case of the traditional nappy technology, urine used to flow out during absorption process, making dirty the area about the vulva or when the baby moves, and causing the leak of unpleasant smell.
Our innovated nappy is distinguished because urine is contained and absorbed within the plastic bag which has an opening (hole) just opposite the vulva. Only a very small area (as big as the vulva) becomes dirty. - Adhesive " Menstrual " Towel: to be used by adult women (see fig.4) It is basically like the female baby nappy, but it is made different by making possible to remove the plastic bag off the rectangular opening, so that the woman can urinate. Then she can fit the bag back where it was before removal. This process is made easy by fitting a frame 1cm wide with strong adhesiveness. Yet, it is possible to be removed and re-fixed on the skin again all around the vulva area, by applying and refitting the above mentioned lcm frame.
In the case of the traditional nappy technology, mensual blood and unpleasant smell may leak, and the flowing out can dirty the area around the vulva. As for our innovated nappy, it is almost impossible to allow leak of blood, unpleasant smell or dirty the skin about the vulva because the hole allows a very small space to be dirtied (i.e. the vulva area only).
❖ Note: The sticker fitted on the nappy is equipped with an elastic piece of plastic made in the form of a circle attached on the edge of the sticker. When it is desired to remove the nappy, one end of the circular piece of plastic is held by fingers, and then, rolled up (like tin-opening) causing no tension to skin.
Experimental Conclusions:
It is proved through testing and practice that (adhesive stickers):
1- Fit firmly on skin.
2- Feel smooth and comfortable on baby's skin.
3- Do not leak urine, blood or smell.
4- Don't cause any skin irritation or allergy.
5- Dirty only a very limited area about the anus or the vulva.
The cleaning towel attached to eveiy nappy with particular design will guaranty a good cleaning process without dirtying the hands.
Healthy Invention:
No health problem is noted about the invention. According to consulted physicians and pharmacists, the medical adhesive tape (ribbon) is normally used on skin and even to cover wounds which are not healed yet, sometimes for years. Consequently, using this tape on skin is quite safe and harmless from medical point of view.
Environmentally Friendly Invention:
All materials used in making the innovated nappies are environmentally friendly and already in use at present.
Feasibility:
The innovated nappies are economically feasible because they cost the same price as the traditional towels used by women nowadays. And the baby nappies are even cheaper. (Only a plastic bag and a soft plastic stuff and elastic medical adhesive tape from non woven are added).
❖ Note (1): Babies may wear underpants on their nappies.
❖ Note (2): In the case of urination nappy, and as an alternative for the " Air Laid " stuff, a 1cm cellulose layer containing Sodium Poly Acrylite absorbing powder, enclosed in Non-Woven fabric, can be added to secure faster absorption.
In all cases, a certain amount of absorbent powder is integrated, in each type of nappies, so that the nappy can absorb half a liter of urine, at least.

Claims

Claims (Rights) That Need Protection:
1- To use any sticker of any medical adhesive tape (with other components) which is to be stuck and fitted around anus, on and around the penis of the male baby and the vulva of the female baby or woman, keeping a suitable hole (opening) to discharge excrement, urine and mensual blood, which are to be contained, somehow, in a bag or into absorbent materials, or any isolating material, in order to keep skin protected and isolated.
In the case of traditional towels already in use, urine, excrement and mensual blood dirty the skin that gets in touch with these towels.
Our new invention is distinguished by confining the area in touch with urine, excrement and mensual blood by a sticker (medical adhesive tape) made of Non- Woven fabric with a small hole (opening) designed to meet the requirement of discharging excrement process properly. The sicker is attached to a plastic bag to contain and absorb discharged materials in the bag without touching skin. (The bag comprises a special absorbent layer, just like the one used in the traditional towel.
This also makes our invention distinguished by not giving any chance for dirtying skin, or leaking of any material, or unpleasant smell, which is the case of the traditional towels already in use. 2- To use any material or shape in the form of funnel or cone for fitting it on top of penis (for male babies) to guide urine, within the cone, to be absorbed later. The cone is to be attached to the skin of penis by pieces of medical (adhesive) sticker ribbons, rubber textile or rubber to fit the cone properly about the upper part of the penis.
3- To use medical (adhesive) sticker to fit the towel/nappy (for containing and confining excrement, urine or mensual blood) on the body around the anus, vulva and the baby's penis.
