The claimed illuminated multi-symbol keyboard comprises a body having buttons disposed therein which are provided with corresponding displacement and switching mechanisms and are connected to a control circuit which switches, inter alia, light emitters situated beneath each button, the light from said emitters passing via a replaceable film with a plurality of symbol images beneath each button to the surface of the button. The novel feature of the keyboard is that the light emitters are arranged in such a way that when one of the emitters is switched on, a corresponding symbol image is projected onto the entire semi-transparent top surface of the button and when a different emitter is switched on, a different corresponding image replaces the preceding one on the entire surface of the same button.
