Abstract

The present disclosure describes a system for configuring and operating a puzzle-based contest for use in connection with promotional marketing campaigns. The system includes a puzzle having an image typically, but not always related to a promoted business/product with each piece including an image portion on its front and an identifier on the back (for non-electronic puzzles). The system may use the identifier to identify the puzzle and individual pieces or groups of pieces, and may include an alphanumeric human readable code and/or a non-human readable code such as a bar code. The system also includes one or more server computers having appropriate software, and implements multiple contest types including instant winner contests and contests where a participant must collect substantially all of the puzzle pieces in order to identify a potentially prize winning piece, thereby requiring the participant to view much of the image for an increased time period.
