Description

A DISHWASHER WITH IMPROVED WASHING PERFORMANCE
The present invention relates to a dishwasher the energy consumption and washing performance of which is optimized.
In dishwashers, electric energy is mostly consumed in the phase of heating the water received from the mains. In this stage, the heater is operated and the wash water is raised to the temperatures predetermined by the manufacturer for the selected washing program. Therefore, energy consumption depends on the temperature changes in the mains water. The changes in the temperature of the mains water also affect the cleaning performance of the dishwasher. Mains water at low temperatures result in increase of the program times of the washing steps and the amount of consumed energy, while the mains water at high temperatures adversely affect the washing and rinsing performance of the dishwasher since the program times are shortened.
In the state of the art German Patent Application No. DE19734264, a dishwasher is disclosed wherein energy consumption is decreased and the program time is shortened.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher, the energy consumption and the washing performance of which are improved.
The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a body, a washing tub that is disposed into the body and wherein the washing process is performed, a circulation line that supplies water to the washing tub, a circulation pump that enables water to be pumped from the circulation line to the washing tub, a temperature sensor that is disposed on the body and that measures the temperature of the mains water and the temperature of the wash water, a heater that heats the mains water, and a control unit that controls the operation of the heater, the circulation pump and the temperature sensor in accordance with the program steps predetermined by the manufacturer.
The control unit regulates the circulation time in the main washing step by comparing the measured mains water temperature with the target wash water temperature value. The control unit changes the circulation time during the main washing process depending on the circulation time during the heating operation. The circulation time that gets shorter in the heating step due to high mains water temperature is compensated in the main washing step. Thus, the same washing performance is attained in every situation independently from the mains water temperature.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit prolongs the circulation time realized in the main washing step by an additional time predetermined by the manufacturer if the circulation time realized in the heating step is smaller than the heating circulation time predetermined by the manufacturer. Thus, the washing process is prevented from ending before the objects in the dishwasher are entirely cleaned.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit decreases the main washing circulation time prerecorded for the main washing step in the control unit by an additional time predetermined by the manufacturer if the circulation time realized in the heating step is greater than the heating circulation time predetermined by the manufacturer. Thus, energy consumption is prevented from increasing due to excessive circulation and the total program time is decreased.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit does not change the predetermined main washing circulation time and the heating circulation time if the measured mains water temperature is equal to the target wash water temperature value.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit deactivates the heater and operates the circulation time of the heating step in the washing step if the measured mains water temperature is greater than the target wash water temperature value. Consequently, the energy consumption is decreased.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit operates the heater for a longer time and/or at a higher power value if the measured mains water temperature is smaller than the target wash water temperature value.
A dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
Figure 1 – is the perspective view of a dishwasher.
The following symbols are used for explicating the dishwasher (1) of the present invention:
(tch) : a heating circulation time predetermined by the manufacturer for the heating step
(tcw): a main washing circulation time predetermined by the manufacturer for the main washing step
(Trw) : measured wash water temperature
(Ttw) : a target wash water temperature value predetermined by the manufacturer
(td) : an additional time predetermined by the manufacturer.
(∆T) : temperature difference between the target wash water temperature value (Ttw) and the measured mains water temperature (Trt)
(∆T1, ∆T2, ∆T3,….) : more than one temperature difference interval entered previously into the control unit (8) by the manufacturer
The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
  1. Dishwasher
  2. Body
  3. Washing tub
  4. Circulation line
  5. Heater
  6. Temperature sensor
  7. Circulation pump
  8. Control unit
The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises,
  • a body (2),
  • a washing tub (3) that is disposed into the body (2) and wherein the objects to be washed are placed,
  • a circulation line (4) that is disposed on the body (2) and that enables water to be delivered into the washing tub (3),
  • a heater (5) that is disposed on the circulation line (4) and that enables the wash water to be heated,
  • a temperature sensor (6) that is disposed on the body (2) and that measures the temperature of the wash water or the mains water,
  • a circulation pump (7) that is disposed on the circulation line (4) and that enables the wash water to be circulated inside the washing tub (3),
  • a control unit (8) that implements the washing programs composed of the main washing, rinsing and drying steps.
The control unit (8) of the present invention, in the memory of which a heating circulation time (tch) for the heating step predetermined by the manufacturer and a main washing circulation time (tcw) for the main washing step predetermined by the manufacturer are recorded, changes the main washing circulation time (tcw) by comparing the measured wash water temperature (Trw) and a target wash water temperature value (Ttw) predetermined by the manufacturer. The control unit (8) prolongs the main washing circulation time (tcw) depending on the measured mains water temperature (Trt) or deactivates the circulation pump (7) before the main washing circulation time (tcw) is completed. Thus, deviations in the cleaning performance of the dishwasher (1) are decreased without changing the energy consumption.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (8) prolongs the main washing circulation time (tcw) by an additional time (td) predetermined by the manufacturer if the measured mains water temperature (Trt) is greater than the target wash water temperature value (Ttw). The additional time (td), is implemented depending on the temperature difference interval (∆T1, ∆T2, ∆T3,….) that is prerecorded in the control unit (8) by the manufacturer and that corresponds to the temperature difference (∆T) between the target wash water temperature value (Ttw) and the measured mains water temperature (Trt). Thus, in periods like the summer season when the temperature of the mains water increases, the circulation time that decreases due to shortened heating process time, is prolonged by additional times that are prerecorded in the control unit (8) by the manufacturer.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (8) stops the circulation pump (7) before the main washing circulation time (tcw) is completed if the measured mains water temperature (Trt) is smaller than the target main washing temperature value (Ttw). In the heating step, because of the prolonged circulation time since the heating process takes more time, the circulation time that continues in the main washing step is kept short. Thus, the cleansed dirt is prevented from adhering again on the cleaned items due to excessive circulation and the program time is prevented from prolonging.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (8) operates the circulation pump (7) during the main washing circulation time (tcw) if the measured mains water temperature (Trt) is equal to the target wash water temperature value (Ttw). Thus, the same washing performance is attained in every situation independent of the mains water temperature and consumer satisfaction is increased.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (8) deactivates the heater (5) if measured mains water temperature (Trt) is greater than the target wash water temperature value (Ttw). Consequently, energy consumption is decreased and program times are shortened by skipping the heating step.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (8) operates the heater (5) for a longer time if the measured mains water temperature (Trt) is smaller than the target wash water temperature value (Ttw).
In a derivative of this embodiment, the control unit (8) operates the heater (5) at a higher power value.
By means of the present invention, a dishwasher (1) is realized, the energy consumption and washing performance of which are independent from the temperature of the used mains water.
