  • US 201 10161139 A1 describes a method that analyzes and evaluates the personnel development options and measures of structures or organizational units. First of all, the abilities or combinations of abilities required for these structures or organizational units on the respective positions are analyzed. These profiles are then compared to the abilities or combinations of abilities of the current employees and the gaps are identified from the need for abilities or combinations of abilities and the existing abilities, which are recorded in a report. From there, plans for further development measures are then generated and executed if necessary. The skills of the employees are determined by means of a test procedure. It assesses all the skills of an employee that are relevant to the position. To determine the capabilities, different methods can be used for their analysis.

Even with this system, it is only possible to use standardized questions for a test. Although these cover several abilities, an individualized configuration of the tests matched to the respective job profile, which can optionally be specified by the customer himself, is also not possible with this system.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object, an automated method for individualized execution of a psychological test method that is freely configurable for the test user according to his needs, a freely configurable test form, an evaluation for such a freely configurable test form and a system on which these methods are feasible to provide.
  • This object is achieved by a method with the features mentioned in claim 1, and by devices having the features mentioned in claim 12, 13 and 14. Further embodiments of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims.

This has the advantage that the psychological test procedures can be reduced to the respectively relevant questions to be answered by the test and not every time the complete test scope of a standard test has to be run through. Preferably, only those skills are displayed whose reliability is 0.8 or greater, more preferably 0.9 or greater.
  • a standard refers here to a reference population that is used to compare the result of a test. Because different reference populations are used to compare the results of a test candidate, the results can be more accurately distinguished and thus assessed, especially in the case of competencies that are particularly important for a position. Distractors can then be included in a test if a set minimum number of items is exceeded, e.g. because the test user has chosen too few skills for his test form. In addition, items are used to measure the tendency to be overly positive. These are items from the so-called "Lies scale” or the social desirability scale. The items of the Lies scale are added to each test by default, no matter how long or short it is.

Personnel recruitment is already familiar with various systems for automating a candidate selection process.
In US 8,046,251 B2, a system and a method for electronic candidate suitability detection is described, wherein in a position description certain elements of an application are put together. Items identified as ineffective can be removed from the item description. But it can also be new Elements for position description are added. The new elements can be tested by the user and, if necessary, removed again if they prove to be ineffective. Furthermore, a certain individualization and development of the position description is possible, with the help of which the system remains applicable and effective even with changes over a certain time of the position description. For example, a psychological test procedure may be one of the elements constructing a position description. However, this system is based on the disadvantage that, although the elements of a position description are individually composable, but not the elements themselves. The psychological test procedures stored in these position descriptions are accordingly not tailored to the position and their requirements.
US 2008 009 1455 A1 proposes a web-based system for recording and evaluating applicants and their applications. The registration takes place via a form. The classification takes place according to certain criteria. Modular elements can be added or omitted as the user requires. If entries are to be made in the body text, then an evaluation module is described, which assists in the evaluation of these answers. Depending on the position to be filled, the scope can be adapted or other functionalities can be integrated. The questionnaire can be sent by fax or letter and then loaded into the system by scanning. It is also possible to use an online form whereby files can also be loaded electronically into the system. A disadvantage of this system, however, is that although the information about an applicant can be individually compiled, but individualized statements about the competencies of the applicant are not available or can be determined. Psychological testing can be part of the information. But they are not configurable and therefore not adjusted to the requirement profile. US 201 10161139 A1 describes a method that analyzes and evaluates the personnel development options and measures of structures or organizational units. This includes interviews, psychometric tests, group work, role-playing games or online-based testing. In a skill assessment process, one or more skills may be assessed. The skills can also be analyzed several times, for example in an interview or an online test. Each test of a skill is assessed by one or more reviewers. In online or computer-based psychometric tests, the analysis can also be generated automatically.
In US 201 10111383 A1 a system and a method for an automated competence assessment is presented. The system is made up of a data center that manages the interface to users of the system and stores standardized questions, a knowledge center that is configured to generate a test from the standardized questions stored in the data center, an analysis machine. the the Answers are evaluated by the candidates and a test center on which the tests are performed. The questions stored in the data center are categorized and organized according to different knowledge areas and abilities. The questions are compiled in the Competence Center in a questionnaire. The question form can then be used to select candidates based on their skills or combination of skills. The system also offers additional services around the digitized recruitment process. Customers can select the complete system in the data center or only parts of it. Even with this system, it is only possible to use standardized questions for a test. Although these cover several abilities, an individualized configuration of the tests matched to the respective job profile, which can optionally be specified by the customer himself, is also not possible with this system.
The invention is therefore based on the object, an automated method for individualized execution of a psychological test method that is freely configurable for the test user according to his needs, a freely configurable test form, an evaluation for such a freely configurable test form and a system on which these methods are feasible to provide. This object is achieved by a method with the features mentioned in claim 1, and by devices having the features mentioned in claim 12, 13 and 14. Further embodiments of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims. The method of the invention allows a test user to provide access through a publicly accessible network to a computer system in a secure environment and to be able to execute the procedure regardless of its current location, provided that it has access to a public network there. While the known psychological test methods exclusively offer fixed test scopes, according to the invention, the test user is shown, via a display, the skills available for selection for the detection of defined psychological constructs. One or more items are assigned to a skill, which answer the test candidates as part of a test procedure. To create an individualized psychological test, one or more skills may be assigned to a test inventory. This has the advantage that the psychological test procedures can be reduced to the respectively relevant questions to be answered by the test and not every time the complete test scope of a standard test has to be run through. This is particularly advantageous if a position for which a test candidate is to be tested does not require all competencies or, for example, already assesses some competencies but should be supplemented by the assessment of further competences. The test form is then generated from those items associated with the skills previously assigned to one or more test inventories. In the test form, this advantageously provides exactly those items that are needed to record the individually selected competences. The selection can now be saved either by saving the generated test form, the selected skills or the items assigned to them. Thus, the test can be carried out at a later time, or even reused, in order to also observe possible developments of the competencies of test candidates. In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, in the selection of the respective items assigned to the different skills, reference is made to items which are associated with sufficient empirical data. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, this is the case when at least 150 responses from a comparison group or standard are present, in a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, if at least 250 responses are available from a standard.
In a further preferred embodiment, only such skills are displayed for selection, which correspond to certain quality requirements in terms of their characteristics. These quality requirements can be specified for each skill individually or for all skills. For example, only those skills can be made available to the test user for assignment to a test inventory whose Reliabilitätswert is 0.65 or greater. Preferably, only those skills are displayed whose reliability is 0.8 or greater, more preferably 0.9 or greater.
For evaluation of a test, in a preferred embodiment of the invention, different standards can be selected with which the answers of the test candidate are compared. A standard refers here to a reference population that is used to compare the result of a test. Because different reference populations are used to compare the results of a test candidate, the results can be more accurately distinguished and thus assessed, especially in the case of competencies that are particularly important for a position. For example, the competence of sales strength for a test user to be used in the distribution of a company, compared to the standard summarizing the results of the reference population in distribution, leads to a more meaningful result compared to a reference population published in this competence does not show a pronounced strength. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, one or more test candidates can be assigned to a created test inventory. For this purpose, the address data of the test candidate can be entered in an input window. It is also possible in a selection area to display the test candidates available for selection. The assignment then takes place via a marking of the test candidates in the selection. In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the test candidates displayed for selection are assigned address data. This address data may include the postal address, telephone numbers or even electronic contact data, such as email address. Furthermore, it is possible to create new test candidates. The data of the test candidates can be entered or read in via an input mask. The reading is then automated, for example via a list or a business card reader or similar devices.
After selecting the test candidates for a test inventory, the message is then sent to the test candidates. Preferably, the message is sent to the test candidate electronically, for example by email or other electronic channels. The invitation can be made to one or more test forms. The test forms are previously created from the test inventories. The message contains data. These data may include an invitation to a psychological test procedure. Furthermore, the message may also include the test form created from the previously selected skills. The dispatch over conventional communication channels like the letter post is likewise possible. In this case, it is possible to provide the test candidate with the message with a link to an environment (link) which leads him via a publicly accessible network, such as the Internet, to a test environment assigned to him personally in which the test can be carried out. It is also with the invitation to send an Internet address or other network address and log-in information, with the help of The test candidate can log into a secure environment to perform the test in this environment. It is also conceivable to send the test in paper form or as a printable file. A preferred embodiment of the invention also includes providing a way to receive data electronically. This can be an email mailbox to which the test candidate can send the answers to the individual items or the completed test form. Alternatively, the reception of the electronic data can also take place via the input of the answers of the test candidate in a web browser environment. The received data include, for example, personal data of the test candidate, the answers of the test candidate to the individual items or the completed test form.
In a further embodiment of the method according to the invention, the evaluation is carried out after the psychological test procedure has been carried out. This evaluates competencies whose skills were previously selected for the tested test inventory. In a particularly preferred embodiment, only the results determined for the selected skills are evaluated. The evaluation will be summarized in a document containing information about the candidate, the competences tested and the time of testing. It contains at least a written evaluation and in a particularly preferred embodiment also graphic elements.
Another embodiment of the invention includes a test form created according to the selection of the test user. This test form includes, for example, information about the test user, such as name and address, information about the test candidate, such as name and delivery address, and the time of the test. Furthermore, the test form contains the items to be tested. For example, the test form can be found in be presented in electronic form such that it can be output to perform the test via a printer, or even displayed on a screen to perform the test, and through an input device such as a keyboard or mouse, the answers directly in the system can be entered. The test form can be stored on the system so that it can be called again at a later time.
Another embodiment of the invention includes the evaluation of the psychological test. The evaluation can be designed, for example, in the form of a form. It includes, for example, details of the test candidate, test user, test form, the competences tested, the skills selected for it as well as logographs that are assigned to the selected skills, written evaluations of the selected skills, evaluation graphs and interpretation hints. Another embodiment of the invention is a computer system for carrying out the method for creating a test form for psychological testing. It comprises at least one computer, at least one computer-readable medium, which is connected to the computer, and on which at least one database is stored. Several data types can be created in the database, such as items, skills, competencies, test users or test candidates. These data types can also be stored in multiple databases. Characteristics can be assigned to the data types Item and Skill. Furthermore, instructions stored on the computer-readable medium are made which, when executed by one or more computers, make one or more operations on the computer feasible. The execution of the operations may be initiated by a test user who has previously connected to the computer system. The operations that can be initiated by the test user include, for example, providing access accessible via a public network, displaying available skills, generating a test form, and storing content of the test form. In order to guarantee the highest possible quality in the psychological testing procedures, it is necessary to be able to distinguish between data that has already been empirically backed up and those that have not been empirically substantiated. For this it is necessary to subdivide the data of the data type Item into those that have been empirically validated, and to subdivide those items that have not yet been empirically validated.
In order to ensure a high quality in the evaluation of the returns of the test candidates, in a further embodiment of the method for creating a psychological test method for determining the test results only the answers of the test candidates are used, which accounts for the empirically validated items.
After assigning one or more test candidates to a test inventory, the test inventory is provided to one or more test candidates to perform the test procedure. This can be done by post or electronically, for example as an attachment to an e-mail or as a link sent by e-mail, which provides access to the test inventory via a publicly accessible network.
The computer system underlying the invention includes one or more computers connected to computer-readable media. On these media, the databases are stored in which several different data types are stored. These data types include at least the Item data type and the Test Inventory data type. This ensures that a test user who is using a publicly accessible network Connects to the computer system, can create a new, adapted to his specific needs test inventory by selecting from the stored in the database items suitable for the newly created test inventory items and assigns the newly created test inventory.
Items are statements, questions or tasks that test candidates answer as part of a test procedure. Here, a distinction is made between different types of items. The group of items includes those assigned to individual skills. These are all items that are used at any time in any skill (and thus test). If a test candidate performs a test, these items appear in the test.
There are also distractors. Distractors are items that are not assigned to a skill. They only serve to make the test more intransparent in terms of content in the test candidate. Distractors can then be included in a test if a set minimum number of items is exceeded, e.g. because the test user has chosen too few skills for his test form. In addition, items are used to measure the tendency to be overly positive. These are items from the so-called "Lies scale" or the social desirability scale. The items of the Lies scale are added to each test by default, no matter how long or short it is.
Another type of items are items "in construction." These are items that have not yet been empirically validated and, for which empirical data is collected, either new skills Like the distractors, these items can always be included in a test if a set number of items is undercut, eg because the test user has too few skills in his test.
As a skill, the compilation of individual items for recording defined psychological constructs (methodological, personal and social competencies) in a test candidate is called. A skill is usually recorded by answering 4-12 items. The term skill is used analogously to the term test.
Test inventory is the compilation of individual skills to be used in a test candidate. A test inventory typically has between three and 15 skills.
Reliabilität bezeichnet die Messgenauigkeit eines Skills. Reliability is the measurement accuracy of a skill.
Validity is a measure of how well the measurements of a skill or item actually represent the quantity to be measured. Different types of validity are distinguished: content validity, construct validity, and criterion validity. Content validity is assumed when a method of measuring a particular construct or feature is the best possible operationalization of that construct.
Construct validity is present when the scope of meaning of the construct is completely, precisely and comprehensibly mapped. Criterion validity refers to the relationship between the results of the measurement tool (skill) and an empirical criterion. One differentiates Match validity (measurement instrument and from criterion are collected at the same time) and predictive validity (the data of the measurement instrument are collected before collection of the criterion). The difficulty of an item denotes the proportion of those who correctly solve or affirm the item. The purpose of the difficulty index is to distinguish test candidates with high and low skills.
The selectivity of an item is the correlation of the item with the overall result of a skill.
A test user within the meaning of the patent is a person or organization that conducts a psychological test with a candidate in order to obtain a substantiated statement about the candidate's competences. This may be in the context of recruitment or staff appraisal or personnel development or similar events.
For example, a test candidate may be an employee of a company or business whose competencies are determined by a staff appraisal, or an applicant may be in a position to fill whose competences are to be assessed.

Fig. 1 shows the steps of a method for creating a test form for a psychological test procedure 0. In a first step, a user is provided access to a computer system 1 1. This access is accessible via an interface which is connected to a network. This can be a public network, such as the Internet, or any other network. After accessing the computer system, the skills available for the psychological test procedure are displayed. 12. The skills selected by the user can be marked here and assigned to a new test inventory. In a next step will be then a test form is generated based on the selected skills 13. Then, via a storage 14 of either the selection of the skills or the test form, it is ensured in a further step that the selected skills are available at a later time.
In a further variant of the method 10, the access gives access to a secure area. This makes it possible for all data to be protected against unauthorized access. This data may include, for example, the selection of skills, descriptions of positions, requirements for job holders or candidates for new posts, company-relevant data in terms of personnel development, personal data of the test candidates 49, results of already performed test procedures as raw data or in already evaluated form, Include reports, privacy-related information or other data collected, collected or generated in connection with the testing process.
In a further embodiment of the method 10, when generating the test form 13, the items associated with a selected skill are inserted into the test form 100. This can be done immediately after the selection of the skills, after the assignment of the test candidates 49 or just immediately before the test is performed.
FIG. 2 shows a further embodiment of the sequence of the method for producing a psychological test with additional optional method steps 100, wherein optionally each of the additional method steps can be integrated individually into the method sequence. In comparison with the method sequence illustrated in FIG. 1, as an additional method step, an indication of the skills 102 selected for a test inventory can be carried out. This increases the clarity for the test user 48. The display of the selected skills 1021 can be done, for example, by marking these skills in the list of available skills. Another option is to display the selected skills in a separate list. This separate list can be displayed in the screen itself or in a pop-up window. Other forms of representation are conceivable. In a further optional method step, a display is opened 105, in which the test candidates 49 available for selection are shown 105. This display offers the possibility of selecting from the test candidates 49 available for selection those which are to carry out the test. Alternatively or additionally, an input form can be displayed, in which the personal data of a new test candidate 49 can be entered. The selected test candidates 49 may in one embodiment be associated with an already created test form or test inventory. An equivalent possibility is to associate a group of selected test candidates 49 with a test form or inventory. In a further embodiment of the invention, the sending of invitations 106 for carrying out a psychological test procedure can be carried out automatically. For this purpose, the test candidate 49 is sent a message with the invitation to this test procedure to the address stored in the personal data. Sending can be done electronically, for example by e-mail, fax, SMS or postal. When sending by mail, the form will be sent to a printer for printing. Another possibility is to send an editable file electronically. The test procedure can also be carried out electronically. For this purpose, the test candidates 49 are provided with access information with the invitation, with whose help access to the computer system 40 according to the invention is made possible. This can be done, for example, via a link copied to the invitation, or via access data that is transmitted in test candidates 49 in the invitation. Via this access, the test candidate 49 then arrives directly at the electronically provided test form 100. This test form 100 can then be answered online and stored on the computer system 40.
In a further optional method step, the read-in of the answers of a test candidate is also carried out automatically 107. In the event that the test method was performed and stored online on the computer system 40, or if there is an edited editable file, the answers from the stored data can directly read from these sources. If the test form 100 has been sent by post, then the processed test form 100 can be digitized via a reading unit. This can be done for example via a scanner.
In another possible method, a selection of standards is made available to the test user 48 for analyzing the test data 108. These standards differ in the composition of the reference population. As a result, a significant increase in the significance of the test result is achieved, since, for example, the tested competencies with the answers from a reference population that has a specialization comparable to the position to be filled or evaluated. A description of the standards available for selection can also be presented. The description may include information about the size of the surveyed for this standard Comparative group and / or other characteristics such as age, position, work experience or similar.
An optional process steps is also the creation of the evaluation 109. For this purpose, an evaluation form 300 is partially or fully automated. The data of the test candidate 49 and the test user 48 are automatically inserted into the evaluation form 300. The digitally available data are compared with the data of the selected standard and transferred to evaluation graphics 33 and automatically generated text modules 38.
FIG. 3 shows a test form 20. It contains information about the test user 21, information on test candidates 22 and the items 23 associated with the selected skills. The individual items 23 assigned to the skills are displayed in a mixed order in the test form. Furthermore, among the items 23 associated with the selected skills, further items 24, 25 are mixed. These are, for example, distractors 24 or items from the so-called "lie scale" or the social desirability scale 25.
In a further advantageous embodiment, the items are assigned characteristic values that provide information about the quality of the item with regard to its significance in relation to the assigned skills. These characteristics are, for example, the validity, the selectivity or even the difficulty of the item, with different validity. For example, the validity provides information about how well the measured values of the skill or item to be recorded represent the actual quantity to be recorded. The selectivity of an item describes the correlation of the item with the overall result of the assigned skill. The difficulty of an item in turn allows conclusions about the proportion of those who solve the item correctly. In a further advantageous embodiment, the skills are also assigned characteristic values. Among other things, these characteristics can be validity or reliability. These characteristics describe the quality of a skill. Reliability describes how exactly a personality or behavioral trait can be measured. It can include three aspects: the stability (equality or similarity of the measurement results when used at different times), the consistency (the extent to which all items that are combined into a characteristic in a test measure the same characteristic) and the equivalence ( Equivalence of measurements).
In a further embodiment of the invention, it is possible to have a competence area, such as e.g. personal, social, methodical or professional competence to provide a selection of skills that have different characteristics. In this way, the test user can not only set priorities in the test inventories he / she has configured by himself, not only with regard to the selection of the competences to be recorded, but also within a competence between different skills that have different quality characteristics.
Fig. 4 zeigt eine Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Auswertungsformulars 30. To determine the characteristic values for the skills, the characteristic values of the items assigned to this skill are used. It is therefore possible to generate different quality characteristics of the skills associated with this competence by means of a changed compilation of items for the acquisition of one and the same competence. Thus, items can be selected after that for a skill a maximum Reliabilitätswert is reached, or after that the validity value is maximum. It is also possible to select the items in such a way that a combination of the characteristic values is optimized. FIG. 4 shows an embodiment of the evaluation form 30 according to the invention. The evaluation form 30 includes information about the time of execution, the test user 31, the test candidate 32, the scope of the test procedure or the test inventory, in particular the acquired competencies, and graphical and / or written explanations of the test result , Optionally, information on the selected standard 35 and its characteristics can also be included. Furthermore, it is advantageous if the characteristic values of the test inventory 34 are indicated. This includes, for example, information on the validity and reliability of the tested skills. In an advantageous embodiment, the presentation of the results in the evaluation form is subdivided into an overview part and a part in which the results for the individual skills tested are detailed. Preferably, in an evaluation graph 33, the results for the individual skills can be displayed in an overview. In a further embodiment, the evaluation form according to the invention also includes an evaluation graph 33, in which the tested competences are grouped by clusters. For example, these clusters can subdivide the skills in terms of personal and social skills. For individual competencies or skills, further evaluation graphics 33 can be inserted in the evaluation form 30 in which the result of the test candidate is compared with the result of the standard. It is also advantageous for the purpose of recognition to associate the individual skills with logographics 307. Optionally, the evaluation form can also contain interpretation hints.

In a second display area 53, the already created test inventories 54 are shown. Optionally, the respective test inventories 54 can be assigned buttons 541, 542, via the actuation of which brief information on the respective test inventory is displayed can be. Via a further display or operating area assigned to the respective test inventory, the skills already assigned to the test inventory can be displayed or displayed. In a further advantageous embodiment, a control surface 55 is arranged on the display area, with the aid of which a new test inventory can be created. Once a new test inventory has been created, it can be assigned skills using a drag-and-drop function, for example. In another embodiment, the skills 52 may be selected to a test inventory via the buttons 523.
Via another operating surface 56, test candidates 49 can be assigned to a test inventory. For this purpose, in a further display area, such as a pop-up window, the test candidates 49 available for selection can be displayed for selection. In another advantageous embodiment, a pull-down menu opens in which the test candidates 49 available for selection are listed and can be marked for selection. In a further embodiment of the invention, a button can also be provided in this display area, via the actuation of which the dispatch of the invitation to the test candidates 49 can be initiated. Another embodiment of the invention includes a button 57 via which one or more standards can be assigned to each test inventory.
After access to the computer system 40 according to the invention, the test user 48 arrives at the display area for creating or selecting test inventories 50. In this display area, the test user 48 can create a new test inventory via the operation of a control surface 55. In an advantageous embodiment, skills can be assigned to a test inventory, for example by means of drag-and-drop. The selection can also be made by marking the skills in the display area of the skills 51 available for selection. Each skill is in turn assigned items.
After completion of the selection of the skills to a test inventory can be given in a development of the invention, the ability to save the selection.
In another embodiment of the invention, the test user 48 may associate one or more test candidates 49 with a created test inventory. This selection can be made for example by marking the test candidates 49 in a list. If one or more test candidates 49 are selected, then in a development of the invention the automated dispatch can be triggered via the actuation of a button. In a preferred embodiment, the test candidates 49 are notified by means of an electronic message, such as an email or message of a similar format. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the electronic message contains a link that directs the test candidate 49, for example via a secure connection, directly to an environment with the test form 100. In this environment, the test candidate 49 can enter his answers directly into the test form 100 and save them. In a further embodiment, access data is transmitted to the test candidate 49 with the invitation 106, with the aid of which the test candidate 49 can gain access to the secure area.
In a further refinement of the method according to the invention, the items 23 assigned to the selected skills are arranged in the test form 100 in mixed order in order to produce the test form 100. The order can be random or after a predetermined mechanism that ensures that the items associated with a skill 23 are distributed via the test form 100 and are not heaped. In one development of the invention, the items 23 associated with the selected skills can be supplemented by further items. These additional items may be, for example, distractors 24, which serve to make the test more non-transparent in the test candidate. However, there may also be items from the social desirability scale (lie scale) 25 that serve to provide information about the authenticity of the answers of the test candidate 49. In a preferred development of the method according to the invention, each test is assigned one or more standards which serve as comparison standard for the evaluation. These standards can be selected for each evaluation from a list of available standards. The standards include the answers of a reference population. These reference populations may have different characteristics. These characteristics include, for example, age, work experience, management level, responsibilities, areas of activity, or the like.
In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, each of the standards available for the test user is assigned characteristic values that provide information about the quality of the standard. The quality of a norm is primarily determined by its volume. Only standards whose reference population exceeds a certain size are informative.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the creation of the evaluation form is also automated. In addition to the formal components, such as information on test candidate and test user, the position and the competences tested, this includes Evaluation form Components with evaluations of the test results. In a preferred embodiment, the evaluation component includes both graphical and textual parts. In a further preferred embodiment, the evaluation part consists of a summary of the results and a detailed analysis. In order to analyze the test results of a test candidate, the answers of the test candidate are compared with those of the standard and ranked against them. In a development of the invention, the evaluation form is supplemented with instructions for interpreting the results.
A particularly preferred development of the invention is a method for the empirical validation of items. In order to ensure the quality of a psychological test procedure, only items that have been empirically validated are used. for which there are extensive data from one or more reference populations. To improve the quality of a skill, for example, additional items can be added or new items developed. To develop a new item, however, this must first be empirically validated. Such validation is often complicated and very expensive. With the development of the invention proposed here, a method is proposed for the validation of an item that is very simple and efficient.
7 shows the method for empirically validating items 60. It comprises the steps of providing a test form and / or a test scope for a psychological test method 61, inserting 62 one or more non-empirically detected items 2031 into the provided test form 200 wherein the non-validated item 2031 is associated with a skill, capturing 63 the responses to the non-empirically validated items 2031, assigning the responses to one or more reference populations 64. This method has the advantage that with the current implementation of computer-based psychological test methods not yet empirically validated items 2031 can be empirically validated. This is done without additional effort. The collection of answers and their evaluation is automated.
For this purpose, a test form 200 or a test scope is first provided. A test scope includes a selection of competencies and / or skills. The provision of a test form 200 or a scope of testing in the sense of this patent specification includes both prefabricated test forms and test forms 100 that are only newly created as a result of a skill selection. The creation of even this test form 100 can also take place in the course of inserting a not yet empirically validated item 2031. In the provided test form 200, the non-empirically validated items are inserted. In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the non-empirically validated items 2031 are distributed via the test form 200 in order to avoid that they are frequently found in the test form 200. In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the test form 200 is created only on the basis of previously selected skills. When creating the test form 200, the non-empirically validated items 2031 are then automatically mixed among the items 203 of the test inventory assigned to the selected skills. This test form 200, supplemented by the items 2031 that have not been empirically validated, is then made available to one or more test candidates 49 for answering.
In an advantageous development of the invention, only the answers of the already empirically validated items 203 are taken into account in the preparation of the evaluation form. For this purpose, the answers to the items associated with the selected skills 203 are compared to the selected standards and classified into answers of the reference population of the selected standard. In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the responses to the non-empirically validated items 2031 are recorded separately from the answers of the already empirically validated items 203. The responses of the non-empirically validated items 2031 are stored with respect to the candidate reference population characteristics 49 characteristics. This is done in order to be able to clearly assign the answer to one or more standards later on.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, threshold values are set for the empirical validation of an item. These thresholds represent minimum volumes of responses from reference populations that must be reached before an item can be classified as validated. If, for one or more standards, a number of responses from the respective reference population are reached that exceed the threshold for the respective standard, then the item is validated for that standard.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the characteristic values are determined for the newly validated item and the skill to which it is assigned. This is done on the basis of the answers given so far to this item and in relation to the norm groups.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the newly validated item is now assigned to the skill for which it was validated. The item can hereby be assigned to the skill as an additional item or else replace one or more items already assigned to this skill. The replaced items are then removed from the assignment. In a further advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the skill with the newly assigned and newly empirically validated item is then made available to a test user 48 for creating a test inventory. FIG. 8 shows a test form 200 containing non-empirically validated items 2031. In addition to the formal components of the test form 200, such as the details of the test user 201 and test candidates 202, the test form 200 also contains items 203 associated with the skills to be tested. Furthermore, items 2031 not yet validated are mixed among the items 201 assigned to the skills to be tested. In a preferred embodiment, the test form 200 additionally includes distractors 204. In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the test form 200 also contains items from the social desirability scale 205.
