Nike likely wasn't all that bothered by sneakerheads turning on the Roshe, because the shoe's profits kept piling up. The Swoosh stopped making the OG Roshe Run in 2014, but a litany of lookalike successors took its place—one of which, the Nike Tanjun, became the highest-selling shoe in America in 2017.

Though the Roshe's silhouette was designed to mimic that of a running shoe, that is not, and will never be its main purpose (especially for serious runners). But that does not take away from the shoe's greatness and, if you forgot your Frees at home, the Roche can get the job done.

I thought the Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit was going to feel and ride like a minimal shoe. It doesn't. There is plenty of midsole cushion and even a 6mm drop from heel to toe. I would recommend this shoe for a runner that keeps the regular runs under 10 miles and likes crosstraining.
